1 John 1
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

โDearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.โ

โLet love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;โ

Forgiveness
A man in New Zealand backed out of his driveway when a cat came out of nowhere. He ran over the cat, and the cat died. But what made it even worse is that the cat was owned by the prime minister of New Zealand, who lived nearby.
The manโs two children wrote a condolence card in which they asked the prime minister not to send their father to prison. When he bumped into her in person, he apologized, but she apologized for the inconvenience, and it was one of those, โIโm so sorry,โ โNo, Iโm so sorry,โ moments.
One could easily have held a grudge.
But forgiveness is always better. God forgives. We want to remember that. Remember to forgive others.
Psalms 86:5
โFor thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.โ

President Wilsonโs Father
Woodrow Wilson liked to speak of his godly ministerial father, Dr. Joseph R. Wilson, for many years a distinguished Presbyterian minister in the South.
Among the anecdotes he related of him was this: โHe was once in a company of men where they were having a heated discussion. In the midst of it one let out a profane expletive. Then, seeing Dr. Wilson there, he offered him an apology, saying, โSir, I had forgotten that you were present. Please pardon me.โ
Dr. Wilsonโs reply was, โIt is not to me that you owe your apology but to God.โ
2 Timothy 2:16
โBut shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.โ

1 John 1, shares the message of life as something real, seen, heard, and experienced firsthand, now proclaimed so others may share in true fellowship with the Father and with His Son. This fellowship is marked by fullness of joy and is rooted in the truth that God is pure light, with no darkness at all. Teaching that walking in that light means living in truth and openness, not claiming closeness with God while continuing in darkness. Honest acknowledgment of sin is essential; denying it is self-deception. But when sin is confessed, God is faithful and just to forgive and to cleanse completely, restoring right relationship.
