Hebrews 10 ( Continued)
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

βBlessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.β

βThe vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful. Hebrews 10 teaches that the law and its sacrifices were a shadow of the greater reality to come and could never fully remove sin, because the same offerings had to be repeated continually. God ultimately desired faithful obedience rather than repeated animal sacrifices. Through the offering of Jesusβ body once for all, Godβs people are made holy and forgiven. Unlike earthly priests who stand daily offering repeated sacrifices, Christ offered one sacrifice for sins and then sat down at Godβs right hand, showing the work is complete.
Because of this new covenant, God promises to place His laws within the hearts and minds of His people and remembers their sins no more. The commandments therefore reveal a life of obedience, and obedience demonstrates genuine love for God. With this confidence, believers are encouraged to draw near to God with sincere faith, hold firmly to hope, and encourage one another toward love and good works, while also being warned that rejecting this truth after receiving it brings serious judgment.
