βTherefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.β

Words on an Epitaph
As Copernicus, the great astronomer, was dying, a copy of his great book, The Revolution of the Heavenly Bodies, was placed in his hands. But it was not his brilliant work that was on his mind. Instead he directed that the following epitaph be placed on his grave at Frauenburg:
"O Lord, the faith thou didst give to St. Paul, I cannot ask; the mercy thou didst show to St. Peter, I dare not ask; but, Lord, the grace thou didst show unto the dying robber, that, Lord, show to me."
There is no one who cannot come to God under those terms.
Luke 23:42
βAnd he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.β
Luke 18:13
βAnd the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.β

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.β

Hebrews 3, calls Godβs people to carefully consider Jesus as Godβs sent One and faithful High Priest, who is worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as a son is greater than a servant within a household. Moses served faithfully among Godβs people, but Christ rules faithfully over Godβs house and Godβs people belong to that house if they hold firmly to their confidence and hope. It warns against hardening the heart through unbelief, using Israelβs wilderness failure as an example, and urges daily encouragement so that no one is hardened by sinβs deceit, but continues in steadfast trust in the living God.

Still Upward
Still upward be thine onward course:
For this I pray today;
Still upward as the years go by,
And seasons pass away.
Still upward in this coming year,
Thy path is all untried;
Still upward mayst thou journey on,
Close by thy Savior's side.
Still upward e'en though sorrow come,
And trials crush thine heart;
Still upward may they draw thy soul,
With Christ to walk apart.
Still upward till the day shall break,
And shadows all have flown;
Still upward till in Heaven you wake,
And stand before the throne.
