His Hand Is Bigger than Mine

A young boy went to the local store with his mother. The shop owner, a kindly man, passed him a large jar of suckers and invited him to help himself to a handful. Uncharacteristically, the boy held back.

So, the shop owner pulled out a handful for him.

When outside, the boy’s mother asked why he had suddenly been so shy and wouldn’t take a handful of suckers when offered.

The boy replied, “Because his hand is much bigger than mine!”

Beloved, aren’t you glad that our Father’s hand is bigger than ours? When we accepted Jesus as our Saviour, we are placed into His hand—forever and ever. What a joy we have in this knowledge.

John 10:29
“My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.”

“Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands: Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.”

“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.”

🙌 Acts 4:12 ~ Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

🙌 Philippians 2:9-11 ~Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Lick to Death

Radio personality Paul Harvey tells the story of how an Eskimo kills a wolf. The account is grisly, yet it offers fresh insight into the consuming, self-destructive nature of sin.

"First, the Eskimo coats his knife blade with animal blood and allows it to freeze. Then he adds another layer of blood, and another, until the blade is completely concealed by frozen blood.

"Next, the hunter fixes his knife in the ground with the blade up. When a wolf follows his sensitive nose to the source of the scent and discovers the bait, he licks it, tasting the fresh frozen blood. He begins to lick faster, more and more vigorously, lapping the blade until the keen edge is bare. Feverishly now, harder and harder the wolf licks the blade in the arctic night. So great becomes his craving for blood that the wolf does not notice the razor-sharp sting of the naked blade on his own tongue, nor does he recognize the instant at which his insatiable thirst is being satisfied by his OWN warm blood. His carnivorous appetite just craves more until the dawn finds him dead in the snow!"

It is a fearful thing that people can be "consumed by their own lusts."

Only God's grace keeps us from the wolf's fate.

2 Corinthians 6:2
“(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)”

1 Timothy 1:15
“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”

Hebrews 1 declares that God, who once spoke through the prophets in many ways, has now spoken fully through His Son, who reveals God’s nature, carries His authority, and sustains all things by His powerful word. It exalts Christ as far greater than the angels, identifying Him as the appointed heir of all things, the exact expression of God’s being, and the eternal King whose throne is righteous and unshakable. It establishes Jesus as both Creator and Lord, worthy of worship, and the supreme revelation of God to humanity.
