But is it too Much?
A man recently paid $238 million for a home in Manhattan. Is that too much to pay?
Huge sums have been paid for everything from stamps and coins to cars and paintings.
Is tens of millions of dollars for a painting too much?
Some years ago a man in Japan paid more than $6,000 (USD) for a watermelon.
That’s a lot of money, but is it too much?
When you really want something, how much is too much?
What would you be willing to pay for … eternal life?
Thankfully, it’s free.
But Jesus said in Matthew 22:37, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Is that too much?
All God asks for is your heart in what has to be the most one-sided deal in history.
We get eternal life; God gets our heart.

“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Titus 1, Paul opens by grounding his ministry in God’s promise of eternal life, revealed through the proclaimed message entrusted to him by divine command. He instructs Titus to set in order what remained unfinished by appointing leaders in each community who are above reproach, faithful in family life, self-controlled, hospitable, and devoted to what is good. These leaders are to hold firmly to sound teaching so they can both encourage others with healthy instruction and correct those who oppose the truth. Paul also warns about rebellious voices who spread deception for personal gain, stressing the need for firm correction so the community may remain pure in faith and conduct.

Titus 2
1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.
7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
9 Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee
