"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."

1 Corinthians 10:31

2 Timothy 4, Paul solemnly charges Timothy before God and Christ to faithfully proclaim the word in every season, whether welcomed or resisted, correcting, encouraging, and instructing with patience. He warns that a time will come when people will no longer tolerate sound teaching, but will seek voices that affirm their own desires, turning away from truth toward deception. Timothy is urged to remain steady, endure hardship, and fully carry out his ministry as an evangelist. Paul reflects on his own life as a completed offering, confident that he has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith, awaiting the righteous reward the Lord will give to all who love His appearing.

Titus 1

1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

β€œI can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

The deepest faith is often formed in moments no one else notices.

Before the crowds, before the miracles, before the empty tomb - there was a quiet obedience that cost Jesus everything.

In Gethsemane, no audience watched Him surrender. On the road to Golgotha, no one saw the hidden wrestle of love and anguish in His heart.

The greatest work of redemption was forged in silence, where only the Father was watching.

This is how faith grows in us, too. Not mainly in the public victories, but in the unseen choices - when we forgive privately, repent quietly, pray when no one applauds, obey when no one affirms.

God builds strength in the hidden places long before He displays it in the open.

What’s unseen by others is not unnoticed by God. The lonely prayer, the internal surrender - these are the moments where the deepest roots of faith take hold.

β€œ(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
Matthew 6:32-34 KJV

Joyous Expectation

A reason to sing
The coming King
The One on Whom our eyes are fixed
Who with joyous heart
He did impart
Love ... Unfeigned, unmixed

β€œFor where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.”

But is it too Much?

A man recently paid $238 million for a home in Manhattan. Is that too much to pay?

Huge sums have been paid for everything from stamps and coins to cars and paintings.

Is tens of millions of dollars for a painting too much?

Some years ago a man in Japan paid more than $6,000 (USD) for a watermelon.

That’s a lot of money, but is it too much?

When you really want something, how much is too much?

What would you be willing to pay for … eternal life?

Thankfully, it’s free.

But Jesus said in Matthew 22:37, β€œThou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Is that too much?

All God asks for is your heart in what has to be the most one-sided deal in history.

We get eternal life; God gets our heart.

β€œIn your patience possess ye your souls. And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.”
