Enduring persecution for righteousness
Following Christ often comes with opposition, and Jesus warned that living righteously could lead to persecution. 2 Timothy 3:12 says, “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” While persecution can be painful and disheartening, God promises His presence and the assurance of His kingdom to those who endure for His sake.
Enduring persecution requires strength and courage, which come from relying on God. It means standing firm in our faith, even when it’s unpopular or leads to hardship. The early church faced many trials, yet they found joy in being considered worthy to suffer for Christ’s name. We, too, are called to rejoice in our hope and to trust that God will sustain us through every challenge.
As we face opposition, remember that our faithfulness is not in vain. God is with us, using our witness to bring light into a dark world. May we draw strength from His promises and keep our eyes fixed on the eternal reward that awaits.

In John 17, often called the High Priestly Prayer of Jesus, He lifts His eyes to heaven and prays to the Father. He begins by asking that the Father glorify the Son, so that the Son may glorify the Father verses 1–5. He declares that eternal life is to know the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent verse 3.
Jesus then prays for His disciples, whom the Father has given Him out of the world. He asks that they be kept in the Father’s name, that they may be one as the Father and Son are one verses 6–19. He emphasizes their sanctification in the truth of God’s word.
Finally, Jesus prays not only for His disciples but also for all who will believe through their word verses 20–26. His prayer is that they may all be perfectly united, sharing in the love that the Father has for the Son, so that the world may know that the Father has sent Him. He ends with a desire that His followers will one day behold His glory with Him in the Father’s presence.
