"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."

1 Corinthians 10:31

In Luke 8, Jesus traveled through towns preaching the Kingdom of God, joined by His disciples and faithful women like Mary Magdalene. He told the parable of the sower, showing how people receive God's Word differently, some ignore it, some fall away, but some grow and bear fruit.

Jesus calmed a storm, showing His power over nature, and healed a demon-possessed man, showing His authority over spirits. The man became a witness to God’s power.

A woman with a bleeding issue was healed by touching Jesus in faith. Then, Jesus raised Jairus’s daughter from the dead, saying, “Fear not, only believe.” This chapter reveals Jesus' divine power and the importance of true faith and obedience to God’s Word.

Raising children in the way of the Lord

This is a calling rooted in both the Old and New Testaments, emphasizing the importance of love, patience, discipline, and godly instruction. Scripture repeatedly urges parents and caregivers to teach children the truth, to be patient with them in their weakness, and to guide them away from the corruption of the world into a relationship with God through Christ.

In Proverbs 22:6, we read, "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." The original Biblical Greek concept of "paideia", meaning instruction or discipline, especially of children, appears throughout the New Testament and points to both moral education and formation in godliness. This word is used in Ephesians 6:4: "And you fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord."

In this, Paul commands parents, especially fathers, not to frustrate or anger their children with harshness or hypocrisy, but to raise them in the discipline (paideia) and instruction (nouthesia, νουθεσία) of the Lord. This includes both practical teaching and correction, done with love and gentleness. Children are not to be shaped by the standards of the world but by the truth of the Word.

Jesus also showed deep compassion and value for children. In Matthew 19:14, He said, "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The Greek verb used for “suffer” is "aphiete", meaning to allow or permit, indicating that access to Jesus is never to be denied to the young. He emphasized their worth and purity, contrasting them with the pride of adults. In Matthew 18:6, Jesus gave a severe warning: "But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck...". Thus a reminder that leading children astray spiritually is a grave offense.

The task of guiding children also includes protecting them from worldly influence. Romans 12:2 instructs, "Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind." This same mindset should be taught to children so that they live in the world but not of it. Teaching them to know God, to pray, and to love His Word prepares them to resist the pressures of culture and sin.

Patience is essential in this process. As children grow, they test boundaries, ask questions, and learn slowly. Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:14, "Be patient toward all men." The word "makrothymeite" means long-suffering, or enduring discomfort with a gentle spirit. This attitude is critical when training up children, modeling the love and grace of Christ even in correction.

The Bible, through both Hebrew wisdom and original Biblical Greek instruction, makes it clear that children are precious in God’s sight and their training must be intentional, patient, and rooted in truth. Parents and teachers are called not only to protect and guide, but also to reflect the heart of God, leading the young away from the fleeting pleasures of the world and into the everlasting joy found in Christ. Shalom!🙏🏽🕊

How Much More Will The Father Give The Holy Spirit To Those Who Ask Him !

~ Luke 11:13

Jesus emphasizes that God, being a loving Father, will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask, even more abundantly than earthly parents give good gifts to their children.

The verse highlights God's generosity and willingness to bestow the Holy Spirit, the ultimate gift, upon believers who seek Him.

“Likewise, ye younger, yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
