Later, Jesus asked His disciples who they thought He was. Peter answered, “You are the Christ,” and Jesus said God had revealed this to him. He told Peter he would help lead the church.
Jesus then told His disciples He would suffer, die, and rise again. Peter disagreed, but Jesus corrected him, saying he was thinking like man, not God. Jesus taught that following Him means self-denial and being willing to give up your life. He promised to return in glory and reward everyone according to their deeds.
