In Matthew 16, the Pharisees and Sadducees asked Jesus for a sign, but He called them hypocrites and said they would only receive the sign of Jonah. Jesus warned His disciples to beware of the false teachings ("leaven") of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Later, Jesus asked His disciples who they thought He was. Peter answered, โYou are the Christ,โ and Jesus said God had revealed this to him. He told Peter he would help lead the church.
