Two toddler siblings, 4-year-old Kwame Cobbinah and 2-year-old Kwame Essiam have lost their lives after drowning in an abandoned, water-filled excavation site at Assin Yaw Boamah, Central Region.
According to their grandmother, the site was initially dug by a community member for a building. After construction, there were plans to convert the depression into a toilet facility. However, the roughly 12-foot-deep hole eventually filled with stagnant water and was left unsecured, posing a hidden danger.
