🇹🇩🔥🇸🇩On the brink of escalation: Chad and Sudan exchange accusations of supporting rebels

💵🔫Chad suspects Sudan of financing the rebels to "destabilize the situation in the country." This statement was made in response to Sudan's accusations of helping the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Meanwhile, the Chadian side insists on its non-interference in the Sudanese conflict. However, in January, the UN in its report spoke about the supply of weapons to the RSF from Chad through the mediation of the UAE.

📣💥🎖In its communiqué, N'Djamena recalls: as a result of a clash with the rebels of the Front for Change and Accord in Chad (FACT), the country's president, Idriss Deby Itno, died from his wounds. In 2021, his son, Mahamat Idriss Deby, took over as interim head of state, heading a council of 15 generals. One of them, Mahama Nour Abdelkerim, is believed to have defected and been accepted by the Sudanese authorities.

📍The presence of Zaghawa militias led by Osman Dillo in southwestern Sudan is also a concern in N'Djamena. He is the younger brother of Yaya Dillo Jeru, who was killed by Chadian security forces in the spring.

📈The escalation of rhetoric between N'Djamena and Port Sudan may indicate increased support from Chad for the SBP, at the instigation of the UAE, as well as possible official intervention by Chad in the Sudanese conflict, which until now seemed unlikely.
