🔻Birth and upbringing:
He was born on October 19, 1962 in Khan Yunis refugee camp.

The Zionists displaced his family from the city of Majdal Asqalan in 1948.

🔻Social status:
After his release from the Zionist prisons in the Wafa al-Ahrar deal in 2011, he married in 2012 and had three children, two boys and a girl (Ibrahim, Abdullah, and Reda).

🔻Study:
He studied in Khan Yunis schools until he finished his secondary education at Khan Yunis Secondary School for Boys.

He joined the Islamic University of Gaza and obtained a BA in Arabic Language.

🔻His student activity:
He worked in the Islamic University Student Council for five years, as Secretary of the Technical Committee, then the Sports Committee, Vice President, then President of the Council, then Vice President again 1982-1987.

He was prominent in the public student discussion forums between the blocs, and was one of the most prominent theorists of the Islamic bloc.

🔻He founded the (Returnees to Islamic Art) band with the blessing of the founding Sheikh, Imam Ahmed Yassin.

🔻His struggle and jihadist activity:
He participated in establishing the first movement security apparatus (Da'wa Security) headed by Sheikh Ahmed Yassin in 1983.

In 1986, he and others were commissioned by Sheikh Ahmed Yassin to form the Jihad and Propagation Organization (Majd), and he was one of the most prominent leaders of the organization.

He directed and led many popular confrontations with the Zionist enemy (1982-1988).

🔻Arrests:
He was arrested in 1982 for six months in Far'a prison due to his resistance activities.

He was arrested in 1988 and sentenced to four life sentences, of which he spent 23 consecutive years in enemy prisons, nearly four years of which were in solitary confinement.

🔻His activity in prison:
He assumed the leadership of the Supreme Leadership Authority for Hamas prisoners in prisons for several terms.

He and his brothers led a series of hunger strikes, the most prominent of which were (1992_ 1996_ 2000_ 2004).

🔻He is fluent in Hebrew, and has many political and security publications and translations, the most prominent of which are:

- Translation of the book "Shabak Between the Ruins".

- Translation of the book “Israeli Parties” in 1992.

- He wrote the book Hamas Trial and Error.

- He wrote the book “Glory,” which documents the work of the “Shabak.”

- He wrote many security literatures that established the security experience of the Hamas movement.

- He wrote a literary novel entitled Clove Thorns (which tells the story of the Palestinian struggle after 1967 until the Intifada).

🔻After liberation:
He was released in 2011 as part of the Wafa al-Ahrar deal between the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas and the Zionist enemy.

🔻He had a clear imprint on the deal’s determinants and conditions, and as a result, the Zionist enemy isolated him before the deal was completed.

🔻He was elected as a member of the movement’s political bureau in the Gaza Strip, and assumed responsibility for the security file in 2012. He was then elected as a member of the general political bureau, and assumed responsibility for the military file in 2013.

🔻The United States included him on its blacklist of "international terrorists" in September 2015.

🔻In 2015, Hamas assigned him to be responsible for the file of Zionist prisoners held by the Al-Qassam Brigades.

🔻He was elected head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas in the Gaza Strip, in February 2017, and for a second term in 2021.

🔻His house was bombed and destroyed in 1989, a second time during the 2014 aggression, a third time during the 2021 aggression, and a fourth time during the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip in December 2023.

🔻On August 6, 2024, he was elected to head the political bureau of the Hamas movement, succeeding the martyr of the nation, Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
