🌍 – The U.S. is moving "most" of its MQ-9 'Reaper' drones deployed in AFRICOM to the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility as operation against cartels—including strikes on land—are expected to increase, CNN reported.

The redeployment could hamper operations against ISIS, al-Shabaab and others, although there is still a "steady drumbeat" of operations against terrorist groups in the continent.

Although the number of drones to be moved and the countries they will be deployed to remain unknown, Ecuador was named as one of the countries that could host U.S. drones and strikes. Most recent operations in the Pacific have been coordinated with Ecuadorian authorities.
