🇺🇸🤝🇶🇦- U.S. Approves Potential $4.5 Billion Defence Sale to Qatar

➡️The U.S. State Department has approved a possible $4.5 billion Foreign Military Sale to Qatar for up to four KC-46A Pegasus aerial refueling aircraft and associated equipment.

➡️The proposed package includes eight Pratt & Whitney PW4062 turbofan engines, radar warning receivers, communications and navigation equipment, spare parts, training, logistics support and other related systems.

➡️The KC-46A would provide Qatar with an expanded aerial refueling capability, allowing Qatari military aircraft to operate over greater distances and remain airborne for longer periods. The aircraft can also support broader strategic airlift and military logistics missions.

➡️The potential sale comes within the broader context of deepening U.S.–Qatar defence and security cooperation, with both countries maintaining extensive military ties and Qatar hosting major U.S. military infrastructure in the region.

➡️If finalized, the deal would mark a significant addition to Qatar’s air capabilities and further integrate its armed forces with advanced U.S.-origin defence systems.

Only seven ships crossed the Strait on Thursday, of which four entered and three exited. Some used the Iranian route, including a large gas carrier, and there were no very large crude carriers (VLCC) anywhere to be seen.

Traffic in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait has also slowed down, with only 23 ships crossing Thursday, compared to 34 on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This is despite Trump's and Axios' claim that tens of millions of oil barrels have continued to cross the Strait into global markets daily under U.S. guidance.
