MQ-1s were retired by the US Air Force in 2018 and replaced by the MQ-9 "Reaper", with only one MQ-1 known to still be operated by the USAF. The UAE Air Force has MQ-1s in its inventory. It is highly likely the shot down UAV was operated by the United Arab Emirates.

🔥🇮🇷 - Two members of the Basij volunteer militia were shot and killed during their night patrol in Dalgan county, Sistan-Baluchestan Province, Tasnim reported. The victims have been identified as a Basij commander and head of the student Basij group.

The suspects are believed to be "enemy agents". No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.

The restive province has a porous border with Pakistan and Afghanistan and is home to the Baloch minority. Terrorism and separatist violence have long plagued the area.
