🇸🇾🗳Parliamentary elections begin in Syria

🟡These are the fourth parliamentary elections held since the start of the war in Syria in 2011.

📍🏛Elections to The People's Assembly (PA) (unicameral parliament) have started in the Syrian Arab Republic. The fight for 250 parliamentary seats will be fought by 1,516 candidates representing all regions of the country.

🚫🇸🇾🇸🇾The National Progressive Front (NPF), led by the ruling Arab Socialist Baʿth Party, which won the elections to the PA in 2020, is considered the favorite this time. The main intrigue will revolve around who will take the remaining 66 of the 250 seats, independent candidates and representatives of tribes are vying for them.

🔴In each region, the election campaign has its own specifics: for example, in Damascus, candidates included in five lists are competing with each other. The main ones are  - Qaimat al-Sham, Al-Mustaqabal and Al-Yasmin. It is noteworthy that there are no clerics among the candidates in the capital, unlike the elections of 2012, 2016 and 2020.

⚠️🗳Also 20 polling stations have been allocated for displaced persons from Raqqa Governorate who are temporarily residing in Hama, Hasakah and Homs. Another 56 sites have been created in Latakia and Tartus for residents of Idlib province, a significant part of which remains under the control of gangs.

🇹🇷🗳Syrians from the regions of Aazaz, Ain al-Arab, Atarib, Afrin, Jarablos, and Al-Bab, which are part of the security zone created by Turkey in northern Syria, will be able to vote in the city of Aleppo (360 km from Damascus).
