🇸🇾❌🇸🇾 — General Situation in Syria as of midnight (21/1/26 - 22/1/26)

➡️ In the Kobani region, the SAA advanced along the Euphrates river to the Sheikhs region (Sheikh Fawqani & Sheikh Tahtani) after tribal fighters led the charge into the region and clashed with YPG there. Meanwhile, the SAA advanced up to the western edge of the abandoned airbase to the north of Sarrin. Further east, the SAA took over the Lafarge cement plant - which was the center of a controversy involving funding for IS in return for continued operations during the height of the civil war and led to French authorities launching a criminal investigation into the company.

➡️ Overall it's largely quiet despite a few drone strikes launched by YPG in the area of Jabal Abdalaziz, the south of Hasakah city, Kobani region, and Ya'rubiya. A convoy of unknown number of Kurdish fighters crossed from Iraqi Kurdistan into Syria at the Faysh Khabur crossing in response to a general call to arms by the YPG.

➡️ In the Suwayda region, militias loyal to Hikmat al-Hijri launched some artillery shells at Syrian government positions in the governorate, but nothing beyond that so far. Likely just an attempt to distract the Syrian government in support of the YPG.

⚡️🇮🇱🇺🇸🇵🇸 - Jared Kushner, Trumps son-in-law presented a map of the new "master plan" for the reconstruction of Gaza by the "board of peace".

The plan included a "new Rafah" which contains an airport and sea port, and a "new Gaza" which has mainly been shifted to an industrial area, despite having a higher population count relative to southern Gaza prewar.

Notably, the entire strip contains a buffer zone of ~1.4km with the Israeli border. The coast, border with Israel, and the border with Egypt are all under Israel's control.

⚡️🇶🇦🇬🇧🇺🇸🇯🇴🇮🇱❌🇮🇷 - Overnight, the United Kingdom has deployed [3-4] "Eurofighter Typhoon" Fighter Jets, refueled via a "KC2 Voyager" Airbus from "Akrotiri" towards Qatar.

📝 The British MoD has confirmed this in an announcement, stating that the Fighter Jets were deployed in a "defensive capacity", and "supports regional stability".

➡️ Not much changed on the frontlines due to the 4-day ceasefire largely holding steady, and northern Syria is getting blanketed in snow right now as well which will hamper operations in the near future.

➡️ In the Kobani Region, the SAA established control over the Sarrin military airfield. In the Hasakah region, the SAA entered the village of an-Nawfaliyah in the Tell Tamer countryside. In the north of Raqqa city, the YPG that was holed up in the al-Aktan prison evacuated to Kobani after reaching a deal with STG, thus putting an end to YPG presence near Raqqa
