🇸🇴🇺🇬🇺🇳❌🏴🇸🇴 — Somali army announces counter-offensive to break the siege on the south-western flank of Mogadishu, Al-Shabaab counters with suicide bombing

➡️ Following the conquest of large swathes of central and southern Somalia to Al-Shabaab terrorist group in the past few months, the Somali National Army (SNA) backed by ATMIS forces, announced a counter-offensive aimed at recapturing lost territories south of Mogadishu.

➡️ Heavy fighting ensued around Sabid and Afgooye in recent days, and today Al-Shabaab claimed a suicide bombing on a convoy of ATMIS/SNA forces near Afgooye, casualties are still unclear and it is likely several Ugandan soldiers were killed and wounded.

➡️ Al-Shabaab also destroyed the Bariire bridge, captured in March, to slow down the Somali government offensive.
