🇮🇱🇪🇹🇷🇼 Israeli ambassador to Ethiopia Avraham Neguise has been expelled from an African Union meeting in Ethiopia that was meant to commemorate the victims of the Rwandan genocide. The decision came following the objection of several AU member states to his presence in this meeting.

His presence was not expected, and as such, the Union has launched an investigation over who invited him. The Israeli MFA didn’t take the decision with a good eye:

This unacceptable conduct first and foremost dishonours the memory of the victims, and reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of the histories of both the Rwandan and Jewish peoples.

It should be noted that the PLO was the first entity worldwide to be granted observer status by the union in 1973 over their support for anti-colonial struggles, while Israeli efforts to seek the same status in 2021 have culminated in its expulsion due to its pariah behaviour.
