In response, Fulani civilians from Solenzo released a video saying that the perpetrators were not JNIM but were Burkinabe soldiers and VDP militiamen.

Human Rights Watch reviewed 11 videos of the massacres and concluded at least 58 civilians were killed, which is very conservative considering locals report as much as 500+ killed.

The man in the video says among other things:

We were attacked in our homes. Our families were driven out, massacred. Our animals were stolen. All this under the pretext that we were al-Qaeda terrorists, according to our own authorities.

Those who massacred us were soldiers and VDP (He asserts this with confidence).
