➡️ During the past few weeks, fighting intensified between ISWAP and JAS (colloquially referred to as Boko Haram) in the Borno State, both sides suffering losses and as reported previously, JAS conducted a massacre of farmers in ISWAP territory, accusing them of being loyal to ISWAP.

➡️On the 20th January, ISWAP started its offensive to push out JAS from its positions near the Nigerien border, killing more than 50 JAS fighters and capturing others, this scattered JAS gatherings to abandoned villages near Lake Chad.

➡️IS usually does not publicly report these operations, likely to keep the door open to JAS to submit to ISWAP authority, so no comments were made on this incident.

➡️ISWAP and JAS split back in 2016, following the demotion of Abu Bakr al Shekawi (Shekau) from his position as wali by then-Caliph Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, Shekau was killed in a confrontation with ISWAP in 2021, after that more JAS factions became loyal to ISWAP, except some like the current biggest one led by Bakura, against who ISWAP is currently conducting an offensive.
