🇸🇾 // Flashlight News special: Bashar Al-Assad's Master Plan

Bashar Al-Assad and his army clearly have withdrawn very far, giving Aleppo and losing Hama to rebels for the first time. The majority of soldiers have entered Damascus, where it is safe to assume that Bashar is trying to protect with everything he has. Knowing he won't recieve much help this time, as Hezbollah and Iran are busy with Israel and Russia being busy with Ukraine, he has to have a final plan for when the rebels reach Damascus.

What is this plan?
After rebels capture Homs, and Daraa may be freed by rebel enclaves, Bashar will have nothing but Damascus left. He knows this, and therefore he has already prepared himself for the situation, as we are receiving news today that positions are already being fortified outside of Damascus. This is in order to force a long and arduous battle with the rebels over the city.

While this is happening, he will open negotiations with Turkey in order to make a deal. Russia and Iran, who both have their interests, Russia wanting to keep their bases and Iran needing a supply route from Iran to Lebanon, will join the negotiations. It is most likely, just like leaked plans from 2012 suggest, that Bashar will attempt to form a mini-state in Latakia, across the coast, in Idlib style.


It is likely that the rebels will accept such a deal, and this may end the Syrian Civil War, or it will be bad news for the Kurds, who will face the wrath of everyone who put up with them since the war began.
