Today, the Geneva Learning Foundation recognizes 816 emerging leaders taking action for equity in health. View the Honor Roll: https://learningsi.notion.site/Honor-roll-Equity-matters-A-practical-approach-to-identify-and-eliminate-biases-Tableau-d-honneu-1d0c2822c39c8067b27ae4a6adcf8113

Nearly 5,000 health practitioners joined the “Equity Matters” special event on April 10-11.

Today we highlight 658 individuals who earned recognition for their exceptional contributions.

This recognition honors:
1️⃣ 158 health professionals (84 English-speaking and 74 French-speaking) who shared their real-world experiences with bias before the event
2️⃣ 658 participants (422 English-speaking and 236 French-speaking) who reflected on what they learned and how they’ll apply it in their work

Recognition is documented through certification that verifies professional learning at European Qualifications Framework Level 7 standards - useful for continuing professional development requirements.

The honor roll includes community health workers, doctors, nurses, and public health specialists from rural clinics to national ministries.

What makes this significant is how it brings together voices rarely heard in the same conversation.

The entire community of health professionals will reconvene soon for a crucial consultation.

Together, we will determine if there is sufficient interest to launch the inaugural course for the Certificate peer learning programme for equity in research and practice.

Your participation in this consultation matters.

If 1,000+ professionals engage, it will demonstrate the momentum needed to create a comprehensive learning opportunity that could begin as early as June 2025.

This potential certificate programme would continue the work begun at the special event - bringing together participants across professional hierarchies to share knowledge, identify patterns of bias, and develop practical approaches to creating more equitable health systems.

By documenting what we learned and how we will use it, certified participants demonstrate their commitment to making health systems work better for everyone.

Join them in shaping the future of this important initiative.

Is your organization ready to connect frontline insights with policy decisions to create more equitable health services?

Dear Scholars of The Geneva Learning Foundation,

For those among our global community of Scholars who celebrate Eid El-Adha, we would like to extend our warmest wishes to you and your loved ones. Eid El-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar, bringing together families and communities worldwide in a spirit of gratitude, generosity, and service to others.

The values at the heart of this celebration—sacrifice for the greater good, generosity toward those in need, and unwavering commitment to serving others—deeply reflect the work that many of you do every day. As health workers and leaders serving communities facing poverty, injustice, and health inequities, you embody these same principles of service and dedication. Your commitment to turning learning into action that improves health outcomes for the most vulnerable is itself a form of meaningful sacrifice and service.

We hope this special occasion provides you with meaningful time with family and friends, and renewed inspiration for the vital work you do. As a global community united in our mission to create lasting change in health outcomes, we are strengthened by the diverse traditions, values, and perspectives our Scholars bring from around the world.

Eid Mubarak to you and your families!

Colonial structures in global health are not historical accidents—they are actively maintained systems that determine who lives and who dies.

The Geneva Learning Foundation (TGLF) is launching the first Certificate peer learning programme for the decolonization of global health. Starting with knowledge curated by Dr. Luchuo E. Bain, participants examine how power, knowledge, and resources flow their own global health practice.

“We need to bridge the gap between academic frameworks and community realities,” explains Dr. Bain, who has navigated health systems across African, European, and North American contexts.

This is not a lecture series. Participants read scholarship, reflect on their own practice, identify concrete changes they can make, then exchange structured feedback with peers from TGLF’s network of 60,000+ practitioners across 137 countries.

Defying boundaries to give and receive feedback is the central tenet in TGLF’s peer learning-to-action methodology.

Five strategic pathways guide transformation: Foundations, Partnerships, Knowledge, Resources, and Leadership. Each addresses different leverage points for change.

The first introductory course is open access and available now.
