Follow this link to learn more & get access: https://www.learning.foundation/community-vaccine-acceptance
A ground-breaking report published by The Geneva Learning Foundation (TGLF) analyzes 734 case studies developed by frontline health professionals as part of a peer learning programme.
From the preface by Heidi Larson, PhD, Director of the Vaccine Confidence Project at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine: “Reading this report, I experienced a sense of discovery. The stories shared gave me renewed appreciation of these health professionals who faced even greater challenges in the face of a deadly pandemic.”
Why you need to read this
1. Discover the four targeted intervention approaches that consistently resulted in improved vaccine acceptance and uptake.
2. Learn what were the two key determinants that helped change the minds and behaviors of individuals, families, and communities.
3. Find out how health professionals successfully worked with communities to overcome legacies of mistrust in marginalized communities.
Who developed this report?
734 health professionals from all levels of the health system took time out from their demanding daily duties to reflect on their practice, describing and then analyzing a situation in which they successfully helped an individual or a group accept or gain confidence that taking vaccines would protect them from disease.

What are the effects of climate and health for local communities in Africa, Asia, and Latin America?
Health workers on the frontlines of climate change from Bénin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Nigeria, and Sénégal share their experience in The Double Loop, our global health Insights newsletter.
In this new issue, we learn from Jonas Agboko (NGO, Bénin), Caroline Akosile (NGO, Nigeria) Zeceña Alarcon (Ministry of Health, Guatemala), Djah Olivier Raphaël (Ministry of Health, Côte d'Ivoire), Nicolas Kashama (Ministry of Health, Democratic Republic of Congo), Muneyi Madimutsa (Ministry of Health, Kenya), Dr Satabdi Mitra (Education institution, India), Wandera Cecilia Nabwirwa (Ministry of Health, Kenya), Mariane Ndesa Ndeb Sarr (Ministry of Health, Sénégal), Guissou K Sylvain (Ministry of Health, Burkina Faso).
They are part of an emergent community of over 4,700 frontline health professionals from over 60 countries who are learning from each other about the effects of climate on the health of the communities they serve.
"The health workforce has a unique vantage point into how climate change is harming vulnerable populations worldwide. We hope amplifying their voices can help build climate and health as a new field that, from the outset, includes and recognizes local, indigenous expertise – and that global stakeholders are willing to listen, learn, and question their own governing assumptions", says Ian Steed, the Double Loop’s editor.

ZDLH Insights Live is a rapid, fast-paced discussion of what we learned from the zero-dose experiences of health workers in Bangladesh and Mali in the first ZDLH-X 1 inter-country peer learning event on 31 May 2023, organized by the Gavi Zero-Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH) and facilitated by The Geneva Learning Foundation (TGLF).
We will share highlights and key learning points, and invite participating zero-dose practitioners from Bangladesh, Mali, and other countries to reflect on what they learned from the inaugural May 2023 exchange.
What is ZDLH-X and why does it matter?
The ZDLH-X 1 event held on 31 May 2023 by the Gavi Zero-Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH) was a breakthrough online peer learning exchange focused on sharing experiences and insights related to identifying and reaching zero-dose children and missed communities.
The event was organized by Gavi’s Zero-Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH) initiative using The Geneva Learning Foundation (TGLF)’s innovative peer learning methodologies. It brought together nearly 2000 immunization practitioners from 84 countries, with a focus on Bangladesh and Mali.
What can we learn from ZDLH-X?
It provided a unique opportunity for frontline health workers and immunization staff at sub-national levels to directly share their challenges, successes, and innovations related to addressing zero-dose issues.
Participants could contribute before, during and after the event - sharing experiences, learning from peers, and reflecting on how to apply insights in their own context.
What is different about ZDLH-X?
The interactive format encouraged direct exchanges between peers rather than passive learning, which is more impactful based on learning science. Facilitators and experts played a supporting role.
Over 600 experiences and insights were shared related to identifying hard-to-reach populations, community engagement, service delivery strategies, dealing with conflict, vaccine hesitancy and more.
84% of participants from Bangladesh and Mali said the event changed them as a professional and 69% said it helped their practice.
Key innovations that made it a breakthrough:
- Leveraging digital platforms to connect a community of practitioners across hierarchy, geographies and languages.
- Fostering peer-to-peer exchange as co-learners focused on a shared goal.
- Building on experiences before and after the live event as part of a learning continuum.
- Primarily sub-national participants sharing field innovations rarely heard at international events.
- Facilitating local networking and empowering practitioners to lead change.

Over 1,000 frontline health professionals will meet on 15 September 2023 for an invitation-only global consultation to gather feedback on version 2.0 of the open-source Manifesto for global health.
The Manifesto summarizes key challenges and opportunities facing frontline health workers worldwide, as shared by over 1,000 contributors at TGLF’s Teach to Reach 8 conference on 16 June 2023.
Teach to Reach is the world’s largest networking event for immunization and other primary health care (PHC) professionals, with 16,384 having participated in the June event.
TGLF will host the invitation-only consultation with original Contributors in the run-up Teach to Reach 9 on October 13th. The goal is to refine the Manifesto with implementable recommendations to strengthen health systems globally.
“Frontline health workers shared invaluable insights that shaped the first major update of the Manifesto,” said TGLF’s Charlotte Mbuh. “Now, we are inviting those same leaders to review version 2.0 and help develop concrete next steps before we open it up to the broader global health community in October.”
The Open-Source Manifesto covers major themes like health systems, knowledge sharing, digital technology, and trust-building between health workers and the communities they serve.
It synthesizes diverse frontline perspectives from over 100 countries into a snapshot of opportunities and challenges facing global health systems today.
Mbuh adds: “This Manifesto represents the collective voice of thousands of health workers worldwide.”
The consultation takes place on Friday, September 15th at 1pm Geneva time. The finalized Manifesto will be presented at Teach to Reach 9, open to all health professionals worldwide.
