Also you may be curious why do people always ask to wishlist — just post a game on Steam and it will find you the audience. Right?

Wrong: Steam will not spend anything on your indie game by default and has no paid marketing either. There are a few exceptions:

1. Your game will be shown before the release and during the release window to find out if people are getting curious. It will be shown often only if you already gained traction.

2. Your game will be shown during the first two days of the Next Fest. It's 100% random and by days 3-4 it will start giving the priorities to games that clicked.

Every other time your tiny indie game has basically zero support. It's shown here and there but at scale that gives it 1-2 wishlists a day. Imagine that you need at least 10 000 to release the game, but often 20-50K for a commercial success. At native 2/day it will take eternity.

It was founded by one of the creators of Just Cause series, they were failed by the publisher (told to cut down the costs by 3-4 times), released what they could, and it wasn't enough.

Fun fact: if you upload a video on TikTok it runs it through content ID checker. Then if it believes you have a certain audio in your video, it will completely fucking remove your audio and place the one from Content ID system "for legal and performance reasons".

And you may not notice it in time. For example, the "correct version" often contains voices and noises, since it was scrapped from someone's video, not from the source of a melody or a game sound.

So, if your whole meme was your edit, your twist, and unique feature, check if TikTok just removed it during the upload.
