I have the funniest story to tell: Sony argues ‘reasonable consumers would not be misled’ into believing they own digital games.

Several folks from The US started a legal action against them. PlayStation insisted that: a reasonable person would never think that BUY, Purchase, and other buttons mean owning a game.

Otherwise only one of three would be able to buy Resident Evil Requiem! On February 14, 2026 Mr Mendoza bought it for $69.99 and then other players did. Would they be able to buy it from PlayStation if Mr Mendoza owned the game?!

Yes, they said that in court (to be precise, I slightly shortened their speech).
