Version 1.2.0 (02/09/2025)
Based on: Galaxy S23 August SPL
Changelog:
• Updated source firmware to S911BXXS8DYG5 for QSSI, S711BXXSAEYH1 for ESSI.
• [M52/A52s/A73] Default kernel is now RIO Kernel, rootless one. We had to do that in order to have SD-Card fix built-in, without needing a custom kernel.
• Galaxy A53 5G is not actively developed anymore, don't expect us to fix bugs from now.
• Added new feature: AppLock. You can check it from Advanced Features section of Settings.
• Added Secure Screenshot patch back.
• Added more Galaxy AI components (Now Brief)
• [A71] Camera/Midas related stuff are now fixed.
• Viper4 is now preloaded to NERV.
• [A52s] Fixed an issue about front camera flash wont work as expected.
!!! Galaxy A73 5G has some fixes waiting uncommitted. It will be uploaded when it is ready.
Bugs:
• [S21 FE] Starting DeX will cause soft reboot.
!!! If you noticed other bugs on your device, please report it to us with logs.

ONEUI 8 IS RELEASED! 🎉
As we suspected and knew, it comes with locked bootloader. If you flash BL, you won't be able to flash twrp, vbmeta or any other unsigned, unofficial images. It is still in binary A so it is safe to flash AP and CSC but this won't stay like that.
DO. NOT. FLASH. ANYTHING. WHEN. BINARY B COMES

Hi there!
It's been a while since the last announcement, and I know the silence has been noticeable. The reason is simple: real life got in the way. Between personal commitments, I had little to no time to dedicate to the project. Despite the difficulties, I want to keep my word and finally release the next major version of UN1CA as previously announced.
The team and I are proud to finally announce the next big release of UN1CA! Say hello to UN1CA 3.0.0! This one has been in the works for a while already, and we're finally confident enough for it to be released to the public now.
Aside from the upgrades introduced by Google and Samsung since the last UN1CA release, expect our own features to be updated and even expanded! We will reveal UN1CA-exclusive additions slowly during development, so stay tuned for updates.
You might remember that I had originally planned to base this release on One UI 7.0, but that’s no longer the case. We’re skipping directly to One UI 8.0, since there’s no real reason to keep developing on an older base when a newer one is available.
UN1CA 3.x will also mark the final major release of the project, at least under my maintainership. Over time, UN1CA has grown far beyond what I initially expected and maintaining such a big project requires a huge amount of time and focus that I simply can’t dedicate anymore. On top of that, I’ve naturally grown more distant from the Android modding world, and the motivation to keep chasing every new One UI release just isn’t there anymore.
Rather than stretching things thin, I’d rather make this last major version the most complete and refined iteration of UN1CA ever. We do plan to update UN1CA up to One UI 8.5 when possible, but after that, the project will only keep receiving security patches and smaller improvements, no new Android version jumps.
The final list of supported devices isn’t ready yet, but it will be shared as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the Galaxy A52 4G and A72 will not be supported at launch unlike previously announced, as @RisenID has retired from the Android development scene. We once again want to repeat that device support requests will be ignored and that we'll only support devices that we physically own. We are looking forward to other developers to enlarge the current supported device pool once the ROM officially releases.
UN1CA remains a hobby project, something we work on our free time, when we can and want to. So, just like before, there is no certain release date, and we kindly invite you to refrain from asking us. However, we're aiming to deliver the first stable 3.0.0 release by the end of the year (this is an estimate, not a promise).
To make up for the long wait, we are planning to release public test builds as soon as they’re ready, so stay tuned.
Thanks to everyone who has been sticking around, this project has always been about passion and community, and that hasn’t changed.
Updates, screenshots, and changelogs will be shared here as the development moves forward.
Thanks again for the patience, the hype, and the trust. Let’s make UN1CA 3.x worth every bit of the wait. ✌️

Situation with A73 and other devices that officially got OneUI 8...
As you all should be aware by now, Samsung, in their ultimate wisdom, removed the bootloader unlocking FROM bootloader itself with the release of OneUI 8. I won't get into details of ethicality or...

!! WARNING !!
A73 firmware with the March security patch, specifically A736BXXSBGZB2 firmware, bumps the rollback protection bit. If anyone updates to this firmware version there is no going back to ANY versions with binary A including OneUI 7. Which means your phone will be permanently at OneUI 8 WITHOUT BOOTLOADER UNLOCKING. Update at your own peril.
