Russian troops inspect abandoned NATO weapons in Avdeevka

Starlink terminals used to operate Ukrainian drones were also found, the Defense Ministry has said.

Russian troops have captured NATO-made weapons and ammunition, as well as Starlink satellite terminals at the Avdeevka chemical plant, according to a new video released by the Defense Ministry on Saturday.

Officials in Moscow said the abandoned hardware was found by Russian assault groups that entered the Avdeevka Coke and Chemical plant, the largest facility of its kind in Europe, which became the linchpin of Ukraineโ€™s defenses in the area after the start of the conflict in February 2022.

The ministry said that while inspecting the plantโ€™s workshops, Russian assault teams discovered abandoned drone control stations with Starlink terminals, dozens of NATO-made anti-tank grenade launchers, ammunition, hand grenades, automatic weapons, and dry rations.

G7 countries plan to tighten compliance with price cap on Russian oil

The statement also said G7 will work to reduce Russiaโ€™s revenues from metals.

"We will continue to apply significant pressure on Russian revenues from energy and other commodities. We will continue to take steps to tighten compliance and enforcement of the oil price cap," the statement said. "While working to maintain supply stability, we will respond to price cap violations, including by imposing additional sanctions measures on those engaged in deceptive practices while transporting Russian oil and against the networks Russia has developed to extract additional revenue from price cap violations."

"We will continue taking steps to limit Russiaโ€™s future energy revenues," G7 leaders went on to say. "We will continue to impede Russiaโ€™s development of future energy projects and disrupt its development of alternatives for energy shipping and other services.

Ukraine peace before election โ€“ WSJ

Washington and its allies have reportedly ruled out a deal with Russia before American voters cast their ballots in November.

Western leaders have reportedly dismissed the possibility of reaching a negotiated peace agreement to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict before US voters go to the polls later this year.

The political stakes are even higher than when the Ukraine crisis began two years ago because Western leaders have invested billions of dollars in Kievโ€™s defense while repeatedly vowing to continue their backing โ€œas long as it takes,โ€ the WSJ said. A Ukrainian defeat could shatter Washingtonโ€™s geopolitical credibility, especially if Bidenโ€™s government fails to continue providing aid.

Germany renames Kiev

Berlin will now abandon the established rendering of the city in its official documents.

The German authorities have decided to switch from the traditional spelling of Ukraineโ€™s capital, Kiev, to a new variant requested by the Ukrainian government, the Foreign Ministry said on Saturday. The city previously known in German as โ€˜Kiewโ€™ will now be written as โ€˜Kyjiwโ€™, the ministry said in a series of statements on X (formerly Twitter).

The change has been entered in the register for official use, which sets out guidelines for government documents. The Foreign Ministry said it would gradually introduce the change.

The statement did not elaborate on the reasons for the change, only saying the spelling had been common practice for many entities.

Changing language to fit the narrative...

Early voting opens in Russian presidential election

The main window for people to cast their ballots will be from March 15 to 17.

Early voting in the presidential election has kicked off in several Russian regions. The service, largely aimed at citizens who live in remote parts of the country and sailors who will be at sea through the election days, allows those who qualify to cast their ballots starting this Sunday.

Russian regions may launch early voting after February 25, but it must be completed by March 14, according to election rules.

During Russia's 2018 presidential election around 180,000 people voted early and 31,000 voted at polling stations at sea, the country's Central Election Commission told TASS news agency.

Ukraine on another retreat in Donbass

Kievโ€™s forces reportedly withdrew from the village of Lastochkino to safeguard their supply lines and conserve manpower.

Ukrainian troops have abandoned the settlement of Lastochkino, a few kilometers west of the strategic city of Avdeevka recently captured by Russian troops, the local outlet Strana reported on Saturday citing Ukraineโ€™s military.

The website cited a Ukrainian volunteer fighting with the neo-Nazi Aidar battalion as saying that units had to withdraw from the area to โ€œavoid the blocking of their logistical routesโ€ and to โ€œsave personnel.โ€ The Ukrainian Telegram channel DeepState confirmed the development, wondering where the Ukrainian high command would announce the preparation of a new defensive line.

First Abrams tanks sighted near Avdeevka

Ukraine received 31 of the US-made vehicles several months ago, which have since been conspicuously absent from the battlefield.

Moscowโ€™s forces have for the first time spotted M1 Abrams main battle tanks on the Donbass front, a senior Russian official has said. A batch of the US-made heavy armor was delivered to Ukraine last year.

In an interview with TASS on Sunday, Igor Kimakovsky, who serves as an adviser to the head of Russiaโ€™s Donetsk Peopleโ€™s Republic (DPR), said that the US-supplied vehicles had been sighted northwest of the city of Avdeevka which was recently captured by Russian troops.

The official did not provide further detail on the number of Abrams, their apparent combat readiness, or how Ukrainian commanders were deploying them. However, Kimakovsky also noted that Kievโ€™s troops were actively using drones near Avdeevka.

G7 pledges to keep bankrolling Ukraine

The money will be focused on reconstruction and Kievโ€™s budget gap, according to the groupโ€™s statement.

The Group of Seven (G7) leading economies on Saturday pledged to continue providing financial aid to Kiev while keeping up sanctions pressure on Moscow.

According to a joint statement of the G7 leaders following their online summit marking two years since the start of the Ukraine conflict, their current key priority is reconstruction and Kievโ€™s budget deficit.

โ€œWe will help Ukraine meet its urgent financing needsโ€ฆ We will continue to support Ukraineโ€™s right to self-defense and reiterate our commitment to Ukraineโ€™s long-term security,โ€ the statement reads.

Kiev demanded โ€˜victory planโ€™ from military with no resources

Civilian officials did not tell the army how many soldiers and weapons it would receive, Viktor Nazarov has said.

The Ukrainian government wanted the military to figure out how Kiev could defeat Russia but failed to provide data on what resources it had to achieve that goal, an adviser to former Ukrainian commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny has said.

In an interview with The New York Times published on Saturday, General Viktor Nazarov offered a glimpse into one of the reasons for the rift between the countryโ€™s military and civilian authorities last year.

He noted that army officials were troubled by demands from the government in Kiev, which wanted them to draw โ€œa road map for victory without telling them the amount of men, ammunition and reserves they would have to execute any plan.โ€

Most Ukraine aid โ€˜goes right backโ€™ to US

The money that Washington allocates for Kiev supports jobs in America, the high-ranking State Department official has said.

Washington spends most of the money allocated as aid for Ukraine on weapons production at home, Acting US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said in an interview with CNN this week.

Commenting on the pending aid package which Congress failed to approve before going on winter recess, Nuland said she has โ€œstrong confidenceโ€ that it will pass, as it addresses Americaโ€™s own interests.

โ€œWe have to remember that the bulk of this money is going right back into the US economy, to make weapons, including good-paying jobs in some forty states across the US,โ€ she stated, adding that support for Ukraine in America โ€œis still strong.โ€

Russia presents an intellectual alternative to Western neocolonialism.

The forum provided blueprints for economic, technological, and cultural development in a post-Western hegemony world.

"Our formations are open to everybody, and are meant for free and sovereign people,"
- Maria Zakharova

Commenting on the Tucker-Putin interview, Zakharova noted that the Russian President Vladimir Putin has been saying the same things he told Tucker Carlson for years, going back to the 2007 Munich Conference.
The reason this interview is being called historic is that the Western media is deliberately trying to keep Russiaโ€™s message from the rest of the world, the spokeswoman added.
She also underlined that the dominance of Western media is information colonialism: "Why are you learning about Russia from CNN and Reuters?"
