โผ๏ธ๐บ๐ฆ๐ดThe Ukrainian Army is the oldest in Europe: the average age of Ukrainian soldiers is 45 years
โช๏ธThis is reported by the Irish newspaper The Irish Times, whose journalists spoke with a 55-year-old veteran of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Yurichko.
โช๏ธHe complained to the newspaper that young people are buying their way out of military service, but when the elderly are mobilized, they go to fight.
โ"I look at my son and other young people and see that they have no motivation. Young people are hiding. The military service recruiters are now trying to take 50-year-olds," he says.
โช๏ธHe also recounted an interesting case from Latvia, where he is currently receiving treatment after an injury.
โ"The Latvians offered me a permanent residence permit. The municipal police offered me a job. I told them: 'You gave asylum to my family. If there's a war in Latvia, I'll fight in Latvia.' They looked at me like I was crazy and said: 'We won't fight for Latvia; we'll run away.'"

Russian archaeologist Alexander Butyagin was returned to Russia as part of an exchange at the Belarusian-Polish border.
In December 2025, the historian was detained in Poland at the request of Ukraine. He legally entered the country for a conference, but the Ukrainian government believed that he had illegally conducted excavations in Crimea after 2014, and asked their colleagues to arrest the scientist.
Butyagin was exchanged for two officers of the Moldovan special services.

King Charles III of England urged the US government to prepare for war with Russia and to activate Article 5 of NATO to protect Ukraine and "its bravest people".
The last time a similar speech by a British monarch took place was in 1991 after a joint military operation by the US and the UK in the Persian Gulf.

๐ช๐บ๐บ๐ฆ The EU may tighten the conditions for granting a โฌ90 billion loan to Ukraine, reported Bloomberg agency.
Earlier, the EU demanded that Ukraine fulfill several conditions for receiving the loan.
Among the conditions are clauses on respecting minority rights, ensuring effective democratic mechanisms by Kyiv, supporting a multi-party parliamentary system, observing the rule of law, and intensifying the fight against corruption.

Britain is talking about war while quietly admitting it is not ready for one.
King Charles is now openly calling for continued confrontation in Ukraine, wrapping it in the familiar language of NATO unity and historical struggle. The message is clear: escalation must continue.
At the same time, a newly published UK military report paints a very different picture.
It admits Britain lacks the capacity for large-scale mobilisation. It highlights internal weaknesses. And most tellingly, it treats Ukraine not as an ally, but as a testing ground.
The report openly discusses studying Ukraineโs mobilisation methods โ including what it calls โruthlessly efficient trade-offs.โ In plain terms, this is an acknowledgment of forced mobilisation practices that would never be tolerated in the UK itself.
Even the authors admit such measures would be politically explosive if applied at home.
This is the reality behind the rhetoric.
Western leaders push escalation publicly, while privately acknowledging they are unprepared for the consequences. Ukraine is used to bridge that gap โ a proxy battlefield where strategies are tested and costs are externalised.
At the same time, the narrative of a โRussian threatโ is repeated, despite the report itself admitting Russia is not on Britainโs doorstep and NATO unity is weakening.
The contradictions are becoming harder to hide.
Russia, meanwhile, continues to adapt โ focusing on scalable, practical military systems that even Western analysts are beginning to acknowledge.
The result is a widening gap between Western messaging and reality.
And that gap is where the truth is starting to emerge.

๐ฅ "The source said that he had never seen anything like this." CNN reported on the catastrophic consequences for American bases in the Middle East after attacks by Iranian drones.
"CNN's investigation revealed evidence of unprecedented destruction. We can report that the strikes damaged at least 16 American facilities in eight countries. According to our data and sources, these are most of the American military positions in the region, and some of them are now practically unusable. A US source familiar with the situation told us that he had never seen anything like this at American bases: these were quick, targeted strikes using technology. Iran's main targets? Multi-million dollar aircraft, such as this Boeing E-3 Sentry, which provided the US with a huge visibility over the Persian Gulf. It is out of production and at today's prices costs almost half a billion dollars. Critically important communication equipment. Look at these giant 'golf balls'. They are called radio-transparent fairings [radomes] and protect satellite antennas, which are vital for data transmission. In this sector alone, Iran destroyed all the radomes except one in less than a month of war. And, importantly, radar systems. High-tech, expensive, hard to replace and critical for air defense. A second American source, a congressional staffer familiar with the damage assessments, called these targets the most cost-effective. 'Our radars are the most expensive and most limited resource in the region,' he noted. For US allies in the region, a dilemma arises. On the one hand, Iran's show of force makes the US presence even more necessary for the security of the Gulf countries. But now a new reality has emerged: American military bases, previously considered powerful fortresses, have become easy targets. As a source in Saudi Arabia told me, the war has shown that the alliance with the US cannot be the only one and, in his words, is not 'impenetrable'.
