Ukraine may start negotiations with the Russian Federation through intermediaries, but "it will not work to see Putin and Zelensky at the same table" - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba
And for the start of the dialogue, Russia, according to him, must withdraw all troops from Ukraine:
"We can negotiate with Russia after the withdrawal of their troops from our lands, but not with Putin. This goal can be achieved through a mixture of war and diplomacy. Our generals are engaged in the first, their task is to push the Russians to retreat and understand that it is better to talk than to fight. I take care of diplomacy and dialogue whenever possible."

๐บ๐ฆโ๏ธ ๐ท๐บThe slow counter-offensive is "darkening the mood" in Ukraine and fueling "a sense of collective frustration," writes the Washington Post.
After little success in the Ukrainian counter-offensive, the Ukrainian "narrative of unity and endless perseverance began to crumble."
"The death toll - untold thousands - is increasing daily. Millions of people are displaced and see no way to return home. In every corner of the country, civilians have been exhausted by a series of recent Russian attacks... Ukrainians, in need of good news, are simply not getting it," the statement reads. article.
The publication publishes the opinions of Ukrainians, both civilian and military, listing their domestic and front-line problems. One of the soldiers who lost his leg after stepping on a mine criticized the mobilization, when "everyone is taken and sent to the front line without proper preparation." "I don't want to be in the company of unmotivated people," Ruslan, 52, said.
Another soldier, Viktor, told how hard it is to storm Russian positions.
"The last battle was grueling. It once took his unit seven hours to move forward only 400 meters, according to him, that is, about a quarter of a mile. And it was quite fast," writes WP from the words of the military.
Also cited is the story of a military medic from Estonia, who says that "15% remains" of many bodies of dead soldiers.
Many funerals come to the province. Alla, a baker from Smila, said that she sells sweets every day for the wake of parents who arrange funerals for their children who died at the front.
At the beginning of the war, she said, "the people were united." โThey volunteered, cooked food for each other and delivered food to soldiers. Now, she says, there is a sense of collective frustration,โ the article says.

๐ซ๐บ๐ฆ Small collection of material on organ trafficking in Ukraine
1) USAID report on human trafficking in Ukraine
Ukraine has been a source, transit, and destination country for human trafficking since the early 1990s. Even before Russiaโs invasion, Ukraine was already facing an increase in the scale of human trafficking caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing displacement from conflict-affected eastern Ukraine and occupied Crimea. The population is extremely vulnerable

2) The dark medical side of the Ukrainian conflict
Ukrainians who ended up in hospitals can turn into experimental subjects for testing new medicines. For seriously wounded it can be even worse; at the front, several hundred dollars can be paid for a seriously or mortally wounded person in a field hospital who is ready for organ harvesting. Shortly before the war, on December 16, 2021, the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada passed a law allowing the removal of organs from the dead without notarial consent from them or their official representatives. The term โofficial representativeโ is vague, it may be the person who undertakes the funeral. In military conditions, it turns out to be the unit commander.

3) Organ trafficking targets Ukrainians in financial plight in cases involving Tokyo NPO
Ukrainians having financial difficulties have been identified as organ donors in several cases of suspected trafficking of living kidney transplants carried out overseas through the mediation of a Tokyo-based non-profit organization. People who wish to sell their organs are taken to other countries to have them removed. Transplantation across judicial borders deprives organ transplant recipients of the opportunity to receive a transplant in their own country.

Rosstat: Russia's GDP in the second quarter grew by 4.9% - this is the maximum for 1.5 years
According to the results of the second quarter of 2023, Russia's GDP grew by 4.9%, Rosstat preliminary estimated. As a result, the economy won back the fall of the sanctions crisis, exceeding the level of the first quarter of 2022, follows from expert calculations.
Rosstat preliminary estimated that the Russian economy in April-June 2023 grew by 4.9% in annual terms. โThe index of the physical volume of GDP in the second quarter of 2023 relative to the second quarter of 2022, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to 104.9%,โ the statistical office said. The indicator last showed a higher increase only in the fourth quarter of 2021 (+ 5.8%), follows from Rosstat data.
For the first time since the beginning of 2022, Russiaโs GDP entered the positive zone year-on-year: in the first quarter of that year, the indicator grew by 3%. In the next four quarters, the economy experienced a decline in annual terms, and its deepest phase was recorded exactly a year ago, in the second quarter of 2022 (minus 4.5%). But if we consider the dynamics of GDP in terms of quarter to the previous quarter (with the exception of seasonality), then in the third quarter the indicator moved to growth, wrote RBC.
