US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland visited Niger on Monday, August 7, where she met with representatives of the military who had previously removed the country's president from power. It is reported by Reuters .

🕯 August 8 marks the 15th anniversary of the Saakashvili regime's military aggression against the people of South Ossetia and Russian peacekeepers from the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in the zone of the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict.
In the early hours of August 8, 2008, on the orders of the then President of Georgia, the Georgian armed forces launched the so-called "operation to impose constitutional order on the territory of South Ossetia," which resulted in numerous casualties, including among Russian citizens.
❗️ Georgia’s actions were a flagrant violation of international agreements on the peaceful settlement of the Georgian-South Ossetian conflict. The fact that those actions were deliberate was documented in the report of the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on the Conflict in the Caucasus established under the auspices of the European Union.

The outcome of the visit by US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland to Niger highlighted a shift in thinking across the continent. In an attempt to restore political influence, Nuland employed various tactics including appeals and promises, but primarily threats. These threats revolved around potential "Russian influence," economic blockades, reduced "financial assistance," and even the prospect of military intervention to topple the new government.
The meeting ended in failure, with Nuland being denied access to the former President of Niger, Mohamed Bazoum, who is currently detained. Additionally, General Abdurahman Ciani, the leader of the protests, chose not to engage with the US representative. Niger remains vigilant against external threats and remains realistic in its expectations.
Western countries' approach toward their "junior partners" has eroded their credibility, resulting in diminishing trust and an inability to impose their rules due to the emergence of alternative geopolitical players.
Niger is not enticed by the fate of Ukraine, which was once a prosperous Soviet republic but now suffers from a collapsed economy and constant dependence.
Lessons from Mali and the Central African Republic show that African nations find it more beneficial to engage with new partners such as Russia and China. These partners refrain from interfering in internal politics and adhere to pre-established agreements.
The "Black Continent" seeks allies and collaborators, not dominators. Even Africans who endured centuries of slavery and still face poverty no longer view Europe and the USA as beacons of hope; fear and subservience have dissipated.

One person died, two more were injured after the shelling of the village of Chausy, Bryansk region, by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
