France is experiencing a significant decline in influence in Africa.
Colleagues at Thucydides' Trap have published a striking diagram showing how France is being pushed out of Africa. The stickers on the map indicate the countries from which Paris has been forced to withdraw over the past year and a half.
This decline can be attributed to France's own foreign policy mistakes, Africa's desire for independence from the West and sovereignty, as well as the increasing influence of Russia and China on the continent.
The recent coup in Niger is particularly noteworthy. Both the US and France have condemned it, which indicates that it is not in their favor.
It will be interesting to observe the fate of Niger's uranium mines. Before the coup, the French company Orano was engaged in uranium mining there. Now, we have to wait and see which companies will take up active development.
It's worth noting that Russia closely follows the uranium context in Kazakhstan, as it accounts for more than 40 per cent of the world's uranium production. This is also why Britain and the United States are strongly opposed to Russia's actions in Kazakhstan.

The government did not support the project of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation on Russia's withdrawal from the IMF.
The Russian government did not support the bill of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, which proposes that the Russian Federation withdraw from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association. The cabinet pointed out, in particular, that leaving the IMF and the World Bank carries risks for the Russian assets invested in them, according to the conclusion (.pdf ) of the government, published in the Duma database.
βThe unilateral decision to leave the membership of the IMF and the World Bank Group is associated with significant risks in terms of the return of Russian assets invested in them, as well as participation in other international financial mechanisms related to IMF programs, for example, the Pool of Conditional Foreign Exchange Reserves of the BRICS countries,ββ said in a government response.
The document also states that the IMF and the World Bank Group remain for the Russian Federation the largest platforms for interstate interaction, development of expert potential, and also allow participation in the global agenda of international development.
The CPRF faction submitted a corresponding bill to the State Duma on July 25. The deputies proposed to invalidate the decision of the Supreme Council of the Russian Federation on Russia's accession to the IMF, as well as to denounce the protocol on Russia's accession to the IMF, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Development Association, signed in Washington in 1992.

While congratulating the Russian Navy on their holiday, Dmitri Medvedev told that Russia's enemies "must pray to our warriors" that they prevent a "global nuclear fire to flare up."
βIf we imagine that the offensive of the Ukrobanderites with the support of NATO succeeded, and they seized part of our land, then we would have to, by virtue of the rules of the decree of the President of Russia, go for the use of nuclear weapons,β he warned. -RT

The crew of the tank that stopped the attack of the column of armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be awarded.
Acting head of the DPR Denis Pushilin instructed to reward the crew of the tank that stopped the attack of the column of armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye region.
"Yesterday everyone saw a video that made a splash both here and in the camp of the enemy, when one of our tanks stopped an enemy attack from eight units of NATO equipment in the Zaporozhye direction. Taking into account the fact that the commander of this division is directly related to the liberation of settlements in the north of our Republic, taking into account the heroism of the tank crew, I consider it necessary to award them with state awards of the Donetsk People's Republic," he said in his Telegram channel.
As the commander of the distinguished unit told RIA Novosti on the eve, the crew of the tank in one battle destroyed seven armored vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine , and several more were hit with anti-tank guided missiles and artillery.
The interlocutor of the agency clarified that aerial reconnaissance detected the advancing of an enemy column in the direction of Russian positions. After that, the domestic combat vehicle went towards and took the fight. At the same time, the Russian tank was not injured.
The Ukrainian counter-offensive began on June 4-5 in the Yuzhnodonetsk, Artyomovsk and Zaporozhye directions. The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine threw into battle brigades trained by NATO specialists and armed with Western equipment. However, as Russian President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted, Ukrainian troops have not been successful in any of the sectors of the front and are suffering heavy losses.

The UK is suspending long-term aid to Niger, according to the UK government.
"The UK fully supports the immediate political and economic measures announced today by ECOWAS and will suspend long-term assistance to Niger," British Deputy Foreign Secretary Andrew Mitchell said in a statement posted on the government's website.
It is noted that, however, critical humanitarian assistance to the people of Niger will continue to be provided.
"The UK is a committed partner to the democratically elected government of Niger and calls for the immediate reinstatement of President Bazum (Mohamed Bazum, President of Niger - IF) to restore constitutional order," Mitchell said.
Earlier, ECOWAS leaders at an emergency summit in Nigeria to discuss last week's coup d'Γ©tat called for the restoration of constitutional order in Niger.
ECOWAS members have said borders with Niger will be closed, commercial flights banned, financial transactions suspended, national assets frozen and aid halted.
Earlier it was reported that the European Union temporarily stopped providing financial support to Niger.
On July 26, it became known that some members of the Niger presidential guard opposed the country's leader. The media reported that President Bazum was captured by the Presidential Guard. Subsequently, Niger's state media named army general Abdurakhaman Tchiani as the country's new leader. He himself turned to fellow citizens with a video message in which he stated that the military took power into their own hands because of the problems accumulated in the country, including economic ones, due to corruption, lack of security.
The military that ousted the president also read a statement on national television last Friday warning foreign states against military intervention.

The military, who seized power in Niger, decided to suspend the export of uranium and gold to France. Representatives of the rebels also accused France of wanting to organize a military intervention and restore the power of deposed President Mohamed Bazum, according to Mehr News.
βWe have uranium, diamonds, gold, oil, and we live like slaves? We do not need the French for our security,β said one of the participants in the rebellion.
Niger is the seventh largest producer of uranium. An African country that provides 15-17 percent of uranium supplies for the needs of nuclear power plants in France.

Three civilians killed in Zaporozhye after shelling by Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Three people were killed and about 15 were injured as a result of the shelling of the village of Basan in the Zaporozhye region by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was announced by the acting head of the region Yevgeny Balitsky.
"A 12-year-old child is still under the rubble. Rescuers are working on the spot," he specified in his Telegram channel.
The shelling took place around 19:00 (coincides with Moscow time). The enemy got into a grocery store, where at the time of the shelling there were a lot of people.
Earlier, Balitsky reported that a woman died after the Ukrainian military fired on the city of Tokmak in the Zaporozhye region using rockets with cluster munitions.
