General Surovikin's dad, was a Soviet fighter pilot during the Korean War with 3 confirmed kills.

He died in 1966 in a accident when the engine on his Su-7B stalled. He was ordered to eject but he refused and steered the aircraft away from a settlement. He received the order of Lenin posthumously.

Surovikin never met his dad as he was born several months after his death.

Associated Press fires journalist for fake Russian missile crash in Poland — reporter referred to anonymous US intelligence official

AP fired journalist James LaPorta, who almost drove the world to World War III — it was he who wrote the material about the fall of an alleged Russian missile in Poland, reports Daily Beast. In the article, he referred to the allegations of an anonymous high-ranking US intelligence official.

The very next day after publication, the material was corrected and attributed to the fact that Ukrainian missiles fell in Poland. AP did not comment on the harsh fake and dismissal, saying only that there were allegedly "strict editorial standards."
