Moscow is ready to participate in various formats of negotiations, but not with those who threaten, promote Russophobia, or spread disinformation, said Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Therefore, the question is only one. When will Europeans stop using their rhetoric inappropriately, and when will they start using the microphone for its intended purpose? Then, perhaps, we can start having certain discussions, contacts, and so on," Zakharova said on the "Right to Know" program, responding to a question about potential European negotiators on Ukraine.

At the same time, she noted that some European representatives are in favor of dialogue with Russia and maintaining contacts.

"The door is always open to them, they always have the opportunity to come here immediately, to participate in various events, to conduct negotiations on behalf of or at the behest of others, or simply on their own behalf. And we have never closed the door to them."

The Pentagon is creating a religious affairs office that will report directly to the head of the U.S. military, Pete Hegseth, according to The Intercept.

Hegseth himself announced the creation of the new office. According to a memorandum, the office will be responsible for interacting with religious organizations and coordinating the work of military chaplains. However, the document prohibits compelling service members to participate in religious activities or restricting their freedom of religion.

However, not everyone at the Pentagon has welcomed the initiative with enthusiasm. Some military clergy are concerned that the new office will increase the influence of Christianity within the U.S. armed forces and lead to a blurring of the lines between religious beliefs and military objectives.

Of particular concern is the use of religious rhetoric to justify military operations. Sources at the publication warn that such an approach could turn public service into a form of Christian crusade.

"When a mission is declared to be the will of God, any action taken within its framework is automatically considered sacred."

It is noteworthy that Hegseth himself is known for his tattoos with Christian symbolism and references to the Crusades. He has a Jerusalem cross on his chest and the Latin phrase "Deus vult" [ "God wills it"] on his bicep. This battle cry was used during the medieval Crusades and later gained popularity among some far-right movements.

The head of the Pentagon also has a cross and a sword, referencing the Gospel of Matthew, and the name Jesus in Hebrew tattooed on his forearm.

In 2021, the "Deus vult" tattoo already caused a scandal. One member of the National Guard considered Hegseth a potential security threat, leading to his removal from participation in the security detail for Joe Biden's inauguration.
