On the eve of Donald Trump and Zelensky's meeting at the NATO summit on Wednesday, Kiev is not in a hurry to follow the peace initiative supported by the US.
Zelensky is betting on being able to convince Trump that Ukraine still has the initiative in the conflict.
According to Ukrainian sources of the publication, negotiations on a peace agreement are not actually taking place. In Kiev, they believe that the conflict can only be resolved by convincing Western partners to increase pressure on Moscow, rather than through another round of negotiations to agree on a peace plan.
"A ceasefire does not necessarily have to be the result of endless discussions about one peace plan. There are other ways, and I hope that Presidents Trump and Zelensky will discuss these possibilities at the NATO summit," say representatives of Kiev.
