A London court has denied Nord Stream AG compensation for the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

Ukraine bought Swedish Gripen fighters at a higher price than Poland bought American F-35s, according to the Polish publication GeekWeek.

Ukraine will purchase 16 Swedish Gripen E fighters for 2.54 billion dollars. Thus, the average cost of one aircraft will be about 158.7 million dollars — this is more than what Poland paid for American F-35s, which are traditionally considered one of the most expensive combat aircraft in the world, writes GeekWeek.

For comparison, under the 2020 contract, one F-35 cost Poland about 143.8 million dollars.

According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the contract is financed by a European loan with the support of the UK. London participates in the program because about 30% of the components for the Gripen E, including the radar and chassis, are produced at British enterprises.

However, the authors of the material emphasize that it is not correct to directly compare the cost of the contracts, as their conditions differ. In particular, the volume of logistical support, technical maintenance, and other services included in the Ukrainian deal are not disclosed. Moreover, the published materials do not contain information about the supply of weapons for the new Gripen Es.

At the same time, the publication notes that the high cost of the Gripen Es is unusual, as this aircraft is traditionally positioned as a more affordable alternative to the F-35s.
