“We are not interested in young Ukrainian men spending time in Germany instead of defending their country,” said Jürgen Hardt, a member of the Alliance 90/The Greens party.
The Prime Minister of Bavaria, Markus Söder, in turn, proposed limiting the application of the Temporary Protection Directive at the EU level if Kyiv itself does not take measures and reduce the flow of men fleeing Ukraine.
“Our solidarity remains unchanged,” he said. “But it requires clear rules and responsibility on both sides,” Söder emphasized.
The situation in Poland is similar: in 2025 alone, nearly 45,300 Ukrainian men crossed the border between Ukraine and Poland, and in September and October this number rose to 98,500 — averaging about 1,600 people per day.
