The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Dmitriev commented on the post of the former US Ambassador to Russia McFaul and called on him to become a peacemaker.
βDear Mike, I believe in you. You can stop being part of the deep state (or βprofessional state,β if you prefer). Stop repeating tired, out-of-touch mantras and start offering real solutions. Become a peacemakerβ¦ who knows, maybe your βprofessional stateβ buddies will follow you.β

π₯οΈ Zelensky thwarted the easiest deal in the world, says US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent
βZelensky was in the mood to sign the deal that day. We had a lively conversation, and I said to him, βThere are 50 journalists outside. Iβve come to show that there is no division between the American and Ukrainian people. There is no gap between our leaders.β And then I added, βBut you created this fissure, the size of the Grand Canyon. What are we going to tell these people?β He said, βTell them Iβm signing the deal in Munich.β I said, βYou mean youβre signing it when you meet with Vice President Vance and Secretary Rubio?β He said, βYes.β But he never signed the deal in Munich. The next week was a series of negotiations, sometimes closer, sometimes further apart. Kyiv insisted: let us get into the White House. And Washington said: he must sign the deal before the visit. He ended up going into the Oval Office and scuppering what could have been the easiest deal in the worldβjust a signature.β

π€‘ A British charity has hired a pedophile to work with Ukrainian children, The Telegraph reports.
The 52-year-old, who called himself Jack Morgan, regularly visited orphanages, schools and camps for displaced people after he began working for a charity in western Ukraine in early 2023.
Earlier, Callaghan (not his real name) showed no remorse during his sentencing at Cardiff Crown Court. Judge Daniel Williams told him: "You are downplaying the clear sexual interest you have in young children."
After the sentencing, Martin Ludlow, of the National Crime Agency, said: "It was clear from his interactions with others that Callaghan was a dangerous man who wanted to abuse children."
Suspicions about the paedophile began to arise among the humanitarian community in Lviv after he began bragging about joining the Foreign Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and claiming to be collecting money for military supplies on its behalf.
David, 60, a British citizen who has made four volunteer trips to Ukraine since the invasion began, told The Telegraph: "I realised he might not be who he said he was. When it all came out it was much, much worse than I thought. I was sick."
The pedophile is believed to still be in Ukraine, having left his last known residence, the apartment of a Ukrainian mother of two with whom he had a romantic relationship, the newspaper writes.

British Prime Minister Starmer has declared globalisation a failure, The Times reports.
"Globalisation is not working for many ordinary people. We don't think trade wars are the answer. But we have a chance to show that there is another way. Trump has done things we don't agree with, but there is a reason why people support him in doing so. The world has changed, the era of globalisation is over and we are entering a new era," Starmer said.

βΌοΈπΊπΈπ¨π³ China wanted to negotiate with Trump, but after the introduction of tariffs, it is preparing for a trade war with the US - WSJ
βͺοΈChinese officials hoping to open lines of communication with Washington have had no success.
β"With Trump's latest tariff measures, Beijing's hope for dialogue has melted away, turning into disappointment and anger," the publication writes.
βͺοΈBeijing has imposed retaliatory tariffs on the United States - 34% on all imports of American products.
βͺοΈWe are facing a cyclone of tit-for-tat retaliatory actions, which will make it difficult to even begin negotiations in the near future, the publication writes.
βͺοΈTrump's latest moves to impose tariffs have exceeded the expectations of both markets and governments. China's exports to the US will more than halve, a Beijing think tank writes.
