The flight track of the Bombardier CRJ-701 that collided with a Black Hawk helicopter in Washington has appeared, along with details of the conversation between the controllers and the aircraft. American media write that a few minutes before landing, air traffic controllers asked the Bombardier 701 if it could land on a shorter runway — the pilots replied that they could. The controllers cleared the aircraft to land on runway 33 — the aircraft adjusted its approach to the new runway. Less than 30 seconds before the crash, the air traffic controller asks the helicopter if it sees the incoming aircraft. A few moments later, the controller makes another radio call to the Black Hawk: "PAT 25, pass behind CRJ." A few seconds later, the two aircraft collide.
The plane's track shows that it was minutes before landing. At that moment, the Bombardier 701's flight path intersected with a Black Hawk that was on a training flight, NBC reports. The plane's transponder stopped transmitting about 2,400 feet (731 m) from the runway — roughly over the middle of the river. The tower immediately began redirecting other aircraft from Reagan Airport. Trump said the tragedy could have been prevented — the helicopter had been flying straight at the plane for a long time. It was a clear night, and the Bombardier 701 was illuminated.
The bodies of 18 people were pulled from the Potomac River - there is no exact information about the survivors yet, although Earlier it was reported that there were 4 people.
