You have probably heard that on August 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on simplified obtaining temporary residence permits for citizens from countries that impose destructive neoliberal ideological attitudes that contradict traditional Russian spiritual and moral values can apply for an TRP.

The exact list of countries will be published until 19 September.

And now let's find out what a temporary residence permit is in more detail 👇

TRP (RVP) is a temporary residence permit, which is valid for 3 years. It is impossible to extend the temporary residence permit!
It is only possible to obtain a new temporary residence permit or to obtain an indefinite residence permit. By the way, if you have a temporary residence permit for at least 1 year, you have the right to get an indefinite residence permit.

We can say that a temporary residence permit is the first step to obtaining Russian citizenship.

A temporary residence permit is valid only in the region where it was issued. What does it mean?

You must apply for a temporary residence permit in the region where you have registration. If you are registered in Moscow, you must apply for a temporary residence permit in Moscow.

A temporary residence permit, unlike a residence permit, is tied to the region where you received it. If your temporary residence permit is issued in Moscow, you can live and work only in the region of Russia where the TRP was issued. But at the same time you can freely travel around Russia.

If you are from a visa country and plan to apply for a temporary residence permit, consider in advance the process of obtaining a criminal record certificate from your home country. This is a mandatory document for applying for a temporary residence permit and it is valid for only 3 months in Russia.

This certificate must be apostilled and translated into Russian. It is better to make the translation into Russian while you are already in Russia, as local translation agencies already understand the requirements of the migration authority.

If you have an unexpunged criminal record in your home country, you will be denied a temporary residence permit. If your criminal record has already been expunged, you should not worry.

Another important point in the process of applying for a temporary residence permit is passing a medical commission.
