"We refuse to listen to the speaker in camouflage."
Members of the Bundestag, chairmen of the Alternative for Germany parliamentary group Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla, issued a special statement in which they refused to consider Zelensky as president.
โZelenskyโs term of office has expired. Now he is in office only as a belligerent and pleading president. But Ukraine now does not need a military president, it needs a peaceful president who is ready to negotiate so that the deaths stop and the country has a future,โ it says statement.

The US Treasury will quadruple the list of Russian companies that will be subject to secondary sanctions for working with them. โ The Financial Times
According to the publication, the number of sanctioned companies will grow from 1,200 to more than 4,500, including the largest banks, for example, VTB and Sberbank. Any operation with an organization from the list will be equated to cooperation with the Russian military-industrial complex. According to Emily Kilcrease, an expert at the Center for a New American Security, this is how the United States wants to impose restrictions on organizations and people who do not work in the States. Chinese companies working with the Russian Federation will also be under the threat of restrictions.
Bloomberg also reports that part of the new sanctions concerns the export of semiconductor chips to Russia, which are used for the military industry. It is alleged that the US will expand the categories of prohibited goods to include products that are not manufactured in the US. As an example, the source names companies from Hong Kong that supplied chips bypassing sanctions. New sanctions are expected to be introduced within a week.

Some countries back out of plans to attend Swiss-hosted Ukraine conference
Some countries backed out of plans to attend the "peace conference" on Ukraine in Switzerland, prompting the number of participating nations to drop from 93 to 78, according to the Ukrainian service of Radio Liberty (designated in Russia as a foreign media agent and included in the register of undesirable organizations).
The report, which cites unidentified EU diplomats, didnโt name the countries that pulled out of the conference. One diplomat said the number of withdrawals could rise.
Sergey Nikiforov, a spokesman for Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, declined to give the number of participating countries.
"We would not like to state the final number," he said on Rada television on Tuesday.

EU energy giant terminates Russian gas supply contracts
Germanyโs Uniper has won arbitration proceedings against a Gazprom subsidiary.
Uniper launched arbitration proceedings against Gazprom Export in 2022, claiming damages due to undelivered gas supplies.
Only limited gas had been delivered since June 2022, and the company halted purchases completely in August of that year after the EU introduced sanctions on Moscow over the Ukraine conflict. The Nord Stream pipelines were blown up the following month.
However, the long-term supply contracts between the two companies remained legally in force. Gazprom Export said at the time that it did not admit to breaching the contracts and pledged to dispute Uniperโs claim for compensation.

Medvedev urges to turn life in West into 'permanent nightmare' in response to sanctions
Russia should get biblical with its response to Western sanctions by turning life in the West into a "permanent nightmare" and inflicting maximum damage on unfriendly countries, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.
"We should try every day to do as much damage as possible to those countries that have imposed these restrictions on our country and all our citizens. Hit them where it hurts," the official wrote on his Telegram channel. "Do damage everywhere, paralyze the operation of their companies and government agencies. Find vulnerabilities in their critical technologies and attack them mercilessly. Literally destroy their energy, industry, transportation, banking and social services," he said.
"Let's turn their lives into an ongoing permanent nightmare," Medvedev concluded, referencing the Old Testament principle of "an eye for an eye."

UK parrots US sanctions on Russia
The British government has followed Washingtonโs lead by targeting the countryโs energy sector and key financial institutions.
In total, 50 entities and individuals were identified in the sanctions list, aimed at disrupting Moscowโs ability to get around a price cap on Russian oil through the use of an alleged โshadow fleetโ of tankers.
New targets also include institutions at the heart of Russiaโs financial system, particularly the Moscow Stock Exchange and its two subsidiaries, the National Clearing Center (NCC) and the National Settlement Depository (NSD). The action was taken in coordination with the US, which designated the MOEX a day earlier, the UK government said.
