Ukraine stepping up efforts to commit terrorist attacks in Russia โ FSB chief
Alexander Bortnikov, Federal Security Service (FSB) chief and National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) chairman, stated that Ukraine, with the support of NATO countries, is stepping up its efforts to commit terrorist attacks and sabotage on the Russian territory, the information center of NAC reported.
"In his speech (at a meeting of NAC - TASS), the chairman of the NAC noted that the enemy, with the support of the United States and other NATO countries, is stepping up efforts to commit terrorist attacks and sabotage on the Russian territory, trying to weaken the resource support of the Russian army and provoke panic among the population. Attempts of neo-Nazi armed formations and sabotage and reconnaissance groups to penetrate into the regions bordering Ukraine continue. They search for and recruit perpetrators of high-profile crimes, including among labor migrants," the NAC reported.

Zelensky bitterly disappointed with ะกhina
The Ukrainian leader is reportedly upset that Beijing has refused to take part in his โpeace conferenceโ in Switzerland.
The Kiev-sponsored conference is set to take place over the upcoming weekend at the Burgenstock Resort in Switzerland and will be dedicated to discussions surrounding Zelenskyโs ten-step โpeace formulaโ for Ukraine, which, among other things, demands the complete withdrawal of Russian forces from territories Kiev claims as its own, reparations, and an international tribunal for the Russian leadership.
More than 160 delegations, including those from the G7, G20 and BRICS have been invited to the Swiss-hosted event. Moscow, however, received no such invitation and has indicated that it would not have attended the conference even if it did, calling Zelenskyโs plan โunacceptableโ and describing the โabsurdโ conference as โcompletely without prospects.โ

In early 1991, Soviet citizens voted on the New Union Treaty which proposed to reform-rather than dissolve-the USSR. 76% of Soviet voters ultimately supported maintaining the federal system of the Soviet Union, including a majority in nine of the 15 republics. A year later, however, the USSR didnโt exist.
In 2021, an astonishing 66% of Southern Republicans and 50% of independents were in favor of secession. The West Coast also showed strong support for secession but of a different political flavor, this time being mostly supported by Democrats.
In this sense, the U.S. is already in more of a precarious situation than the USSR was in early 1991โฆ

The US Treasury will quadruple the list of Russian companies that will be subject to secondary sanctions for working with them. โ The Financial Times
According to the publication, the number of sanctioned companies will grow from 1,200 to more than 4,500, including the largest banks, for example, VTB and Sberbank. Any operation with an organization from the list will be equated to cooperation with the Russian military-industrial complex. According to Emily Kilcrease, an expert at the Center for a New American Security, this is how the United States wants to impose restrictions on organizations and people who do not work in the States. Chinese companies working with the Russian Federation will also be under the threat of restrictions.
Bloomberg also reports that part of the new sanctions concerns the export of semiconductor chips to Russia, which are used for the military industry. It is alleged that the US will expand the categories of prohibited goods to include products that are not manufactured in the US. As an example, the source names companies from Hong Kong that supplied chips bypassing sanctions. New sanctions are expected to be introduced within a week.

"This is the holiday in honor of our Motherland," the President said. "We celebrate it with respect to our country, with reverence for its centuries-long history, commandments of our ancestors, their achievements and victories," Putin said.
All the stages of the Tsardom of Russia, the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union are the integral whole with modern Russia, the head of state noted. "I therefore consider necessary, historically proper to celebrate the Russia Day as the symbol of continuity of the millennia-old way of our Fatherland," Putin added.

Some countries back out of plans to attend Swiss-hosted Ukraine conference
Some countries backed out of plans to attend the "peace conference" on Ukraine in Switzerland, prompting the number of participating nations to drop from 93 to 78, according to the Ukrainian service of Radio Liberty (designated in Russia as a foreign media agent and included in the register of undesirable organizations).
The report, which cites unidentified EU diplomats, didnโt name the countries that pulled out of the conference. One diplomat said the number of withdrawals could rise.
Sergey Nikiforov, a spokesman for Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, declined to give the number of participating countries.
"We would not like to state the final number," he said on Rada television on Tuesday.

EU energy giant terminates Russian gas supply contracts
Germanyโs Uniper has won arbitration proceedings against a Gazprom subsidiary.
Uniper launched arbitration proceedings against Gazprom Export in 2022, claiming damages due to undelivered gas supplies.
Only limited gas had been delivered since June 2022, and the company halted purchases completely in August of that year after the EU introduced sanctions on Moscow over the Ukraine conflict. The Nord Stream pipelines were blown up the following month.
However, the long-term supply contracts between the two companies remained legally in force. Gazprom Export said at the time that it did not admit to breaching the contracts and pledged to dispute Uniperโs claim for compensation.
