Vladimir Putin and Nguyen Phu Trong expressed confidence that "the Russian-Vietnamese comprehensive strategic partnership will continue strengthening".

"A telephone conversation took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Communist Party Nguyen Phu Trong at the initiative of the Vietnamese side," the press service said.

"The issue of bilateral relations was discussed in detail with an emphasis on promotion of mutually beneficial trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation and humanitarian exchanges. It was noted in particular that Russia and Vietnam act from close positions on the main issues of the international agenda," the statement reads.

Pentagon’s ‘new’ Ukraine aid package was spent months ago

$300 million allocated for Kiev in a stopgap US spending bill last week won’t go to new arms shipments.

The allocation for Ukraine was part of a $1.2 trillion spending package signed by President Joe Biden on Saturday, which will ensure funding for the US government until October.

The $300 million goes into the Pentagon’s Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), a mechanism used by Washington to funnel arms to Kiev, and which funds contracts for future arms and equipment deliveries. The money, however, “is not available for us to use now” due to how the initiative works, a US official told Politico on condition of anonymity.

Citizens who criticize conscription efforts are playing into Russia’s hands, Land Forces Commander Aleksandr Pavlyuk has claimed.

Dozens of Ukraine’s male population are reported to have drowned while swimming across the Tisza River on the border with Romania in an effort to dodge the draft.

In a social media post on Sunday, General Aleksandr Pavlyuk, who heads the Ukrainian Land Forces, rebuked reports “about poor people drowning in the Tisza,” arguing that any such sympathy undermines the mobilization effort. His comments also came after claims of general unwillingness among Ukrainians to join the fight against Russia and a shortage of volunteers.

Why was Danilov Fired?

On Tuesday, Zelensky fired Danilov from the post of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council , and instead appointed Alexander Litvinenko , who previously held the post of head of the foreign intelligence service.

On March 20, Danilov obscenely insulted Li Hui, deliberately distorting his last name and declaring that Chinese representatives cannot decide when Kiev should sit down at the negotiating table with Moscow.

“The reason for Danilov’s resignation was precisely the diplomatic scandal. He used profanity against the respected special representative of the People’s Republic of China Li Hui and paid for it with his position,” Rogov said.
