To clear up some misunderstanding on diagnosis of the delta variant, while PCR test and Rapid Antigen test do not identify variants, these test results are sent to genome sequencing labs in order to identify variants.

The CDC in coordination with US labs supposedly sequences a statistically significant portion of these test results in order to determine what percent of cases in the United States are from the Delta Variant.
