Conspiracy theories are funny, in that sometimes they are later proven true, some have a nugget of truth wrapped in inaccuracies, and others are flat out wrong.

From what I can gather they come from:
1. Official stories not providing logical or enough detail
2. Official sources being caught lying or wrong too many times leading to complete lack of trust
3. Grifters cashing in on the gullible, for either money or attention
4. Innocently misreading facts in a way that others see as plausible or probable (there's a difference)
5. Hubristic people who get it wrong yet need to force something to "prove" they are right.

Some of these are fixable, simply through radical transparency & legitimate efforts to regain trust.

But those who try to force complete falsities because they can't admit they are wrong?

How do you fix that besides at the societal level?
