The Shitshow Macro Weekly Prep Podcast for Monday February 17, 2025 is out:
-Both the post and podcast for Cutting the Deep State’s Tentacles are out from behind the paywall and free for all to read, listen to, and share now:
open.substack.com/pub/robertplew…
-If you have not read or listened to its predecessor, Defining the Deep State (and its component parts), I highly suggest you start there (also free for all to read, listen, and share):

Domestic Politics:
-Many are familiar by this point with the rash of lawfare attacks being waged against Trump v2.0 and DOGE specifically (which is an Obama-created department that was merely renamed).
--For those who don’t quite understand lawfare, they are understood by most as legal suits that aren’t expected to win. Many times they are purely for the headlines they generate (which one perhaps could call propaganda, given the recent USAID funding revelations and allegations).
--Lawfare is the most effective when those who wield it can draw the legal process out as long as possible.
--Unfortunately for them, one of the suits that was filed against DOGE has already hit a major snag that may affect the others - in a dissent that stipulates district judges cannot interfere with the clear constitutional duty/authority of the Executive.
theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2025/02/1…
-An NGO-based conflict of interest may have been uncovered with the RI judge who ordered a halt to Trump’s temporary spending freeze, according to @America1stLegal :

thegatewaypundit.com/2025/02/racist…
-CBS anchor Margaret Brennan - the impetus for the “I don’t really care, Margaret” JD Vance meme - has made another face plant on national television that is being deservedly mocked.
--In a Sunday interview with Marco Rubio, she seemed to indicate that she believes (incorrectly) that Hitler and the Nazis were able to conduct the holocaust due to, or at least aided by, free speech.
--That is both historically incorrect and ludicrous. In fact, the Nazis had hate speech laws, much like many Western leaders and media orgs would like to see in our current era.

-If new buzzwords suddenly emerge and then begin being disseminated widely and forcefully across the media, academia, et al, it’s a pretty good indicator that it did not happen organically.
--@MikeBenzCyber has been trying to tell people that the “misinformation” buzzword and “professional class” emerged as a direct result to attack & get rid of Trump post-2016.
--A chart that I’ll include in the show notes shows the meteoric rise of the word’s emergence and usage in the news media and academic papers - look for yourself; does that seem organic, or planned/launched?
--Addendum: It certainly bears reminding people that it was the Hillary Clinton campaign that coined the phrase “fake news” that Trump took over and made better; this seems like another attempt that was more successful - what will be the next “fake news/misinfo” that they launch?
-The chart that we’ve brought out before when people wail about the “nonpartisan bureaucrats” of the USGOV is the 92.5% vote total for Kamala in DC in November. A new one taken from the FEC and shared by @jlippincott_ may be even better.
--The campaign contributions chart broken down by federal agencies that will be in the show notes shows that at least in the Harris/Trump campaign, nonpartisan is certainly not an accurate term.
x.com/jlippincott_/s…
-We have another potentially major post from @America1stLegal stating that they’ve uncovered proof that the “classified documents case” against Trump was a sham prosecution coordinated with the Biden White House from the start.
--Apparently the “classified docs” that Jack Smith refused to show anyone were a letter to Trump from “Little Rocket Man,” a picture, and the hurricane map.

--Reminder that despite all of the hoax and prepped pictures “leaked” to media by the FBI about “national security interests,” the things above are alleged to be what they used as the predicate for the FBI to raid Mar-A-Lago. And it seems to have been a total scam.

-As you continue to see DC Swamp critters crying about cutting the fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer money, and that it’s a “Constitutional crisis™” for Trump to cut spending rather than Congress…let’s check in on what Democrat lovechild Obama had to say about whether Congressional approval was needed to cut spending.
--Spoiler: he said no, and there was no wailing or gnashing of teeth:
x.com/tpfinitiative/…
-Speaking of fraud, waste, and abuse, @DOGE has a new list out of where US taxpayer dollars were being sent/spent.
--The list is a humdinger and too long for me to cite here, but holy crapoli everyone should take a gander at what these people were throwing our money at, and just how much of it was going into the flaming trash can:
x.com/DOGE/status/18…
-We mentioned the rapid surge of DC-area home listings on Friday.
--Thanks to @Amuse and @VladtheInflator we have the screenshot in the show notes.
War/Military:
-Wars are not often actually fought over the reasons given to the masses (exoteric).
--I knew some of these broad numbers, but have never seen a chart like this: a post today (Sunday) from Armstrong Economics offered a chart of global nations, ranked by the value of their natural resources.
--It’s certainly worth a look to understand various geopolitical, military, capital flows, and other moves that don’t otherwise make sense:
armstrongeconomics.com/international-…
--The infographic/chart will also be in the show notes.
-Marco Rubio (US Sec State) and Sergei Lavrov (RUS Foreign Minister) held preliminary discussions, agreed to maintain regular communications, and are working to set up Trump and Putin peace talks.
--Of all of the diplomats in the employ of the USGOV, during a period when the media and nearly all of DC told you that RUS was the world’s greatest threat, none were involved in diplomacy with that which they called the greatest threat.
--What then, was their point of being?
-Staying on the UKR/RUS war topic, there was a stark contrast between Vance’s speech last week, Trump’s calls to end the war, and the CODEL of US reps meeting with Zelensky and others at the Munich Security Conference.
--How many people at the table in the video below receive some sort of kickback or other funding scheme as a result of the war being prolonged? It’s worth looking into:
theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2025/02/1…
-The head of NORTHCOM (USMIL responsible for North America) told Senators at a hearing last week that hundreds of drones flew over USMIL bases, with some probably (likely) involved in surveillance:
sofx.com/hundreds-of-dr…
-The M23 rebels have seized the town of Kavumu and its airport that was used by coalition forces to attack M23’s positions.
--Along with the airport they seem to have seized military hardware including IFVs, tanks, howitzers, and more:
sofx.com/m23-captures-k…
Science/Health:
-A new lawsuit was shared by @TheChiefNerd against Merck for its Gardasil vax.
--This is an HPV vax that was being pushed on young girls and women that the lawsuit alleges the FDA knew that the vax itself was contaminated with the DNA of…you guessed it, HPV.
--You had to be a “questioner of things” to know this, but many have questioned the safety and necessity of this particular shot for quite some time - there are quite a few young women who ended up being harmed in incredibly tragic ways, like full paralysis.
--But, again, saying anything about this publicly or on social media previously was a sure fire way to get censored, banned, and/or shunned from “polite society:”
x.com/TheChiefNerd/s…
Markets/economics:
-There are several important data releases coming up this week:
--Minutes from the January Fed meeting.
--Manufacturing and services sector reports.
--Consumer sentiment reports.

-Markets are closed today, President’s Day.
-Futures are still open Sunday evening, and all of the major US market indices are green as of the time of this writing:
-European and Asian markets are both mixed as of the time of this writing.
-Bessent (Treasury) said that he and Trump were going to focus on the UST 10-year rates to alleviate borrowing costs for US consumers; the 10-year had a brief spike, but is coming back down.
--5% yield or more gets into the “danger zone” on the 10-year in which many believe equities (stocks) will sell off.
--Current rates:
--13-week: 4.2130
--5-year: 4.3240
--10-year: 4.4720
--30-year: 4.6930
-To that end, Judy Shelton was blocked from being nominated to The Fed board in the first Trump admin (by Romney, Collins, and Lamar Alexander (TN)). The reasoning given was her “unorthodox” views and statements, like:
--USD should be tied to gold
--Fed should be less independent than it is
--Fed may be unnecessary
--She is now putting forward a proposal for a 50-year UST bond that is convertible to gold as a way to lower the USGOV debt interest expense.
--Perhaps we are finally at the point where DC realizes that our current debt issues require unorthodox solutions rather than kicking the can down the road (which is the status quo).
-The currency pairs that we track are not much changed from Friday, except for USD/JPY which is down further to $151.8120 as of the time of this writing.
BTC is down to $96,248.98
Business:
-Diamondback (O&G) is nearing a deal to buy the shale producer Double Eagle (Permian Basin).
Geopolitics:
-It looks like Trump/Rubio wins at Statecraft again, and that Panama will be removing China from its operational capacity at the Panama Canal.
--From @WallStreetMav :

-It is getting far less coverage than I’d imagined, but the US State Department has altered the verbiage with regard to Taiwan on its official website.
--While seemingly small, there could be significant implications or telegraphing of the way the world is moving. The website removed the explicit language from the Biden admin that read, “we do not support Taiwan independence.”
--It is my belief at this point, with nothing more to back it up than looking at geopolitical & economic ripples, that this may be a signal of a deal that is in the works between Xi, Trump, and Putin (as we’ve discussed previously WRT “the elements of a deal can be seen” for military spending drawdown and spheres of influence versus a unipolar world).

-Tucker Carlson published an interview that he did with Hungarian leader Viktor Orban.
--Full disclosure, I haven’t watched it yet but I am sharing given that Orban is one of the few leaders in Europe who stayed true to the wills of his populace and he’s worth listening to:

Conspiracy-y:
Kentucky Senator Rand Paul has called for an audit of the gold that is stored in Fort Knox. Some believe that it’s empty and none of the gold is actually there, some believe that it’s less than the 4,580 tonnes that is supposed to be there, and others believe that it is all there.
Many of those who believe there is something fishy going on believe that because it hasn’t been audited in decades. While Knox does not hold all of the US gold stores, it does have a significant amount - or, at least, it’s supposed to according to the numbers that we have.
Many conspiracy theories involving the USGOV could be put to rest rather easily by simply being transparent. Refusing to do something as simple as cataloguing all of the gold at Knox is one such instance in which it is pretty easy to understand why people would see potential shenanigans when they won’t do it.
Will they get to do an audit? Will it all be there, or will it be light, or will there be more than expected?
As the wise man once said, we shall see.

White Pill:
The last major cabinet appointment that I can think of that has successfully been delayed for about as long as they can get away with is Kash Patel. With Bondi already in at DOJ and getting comfy, and “Eagle” Ed Martin heading the DC prosecutor’s office, at least his required support will already be in place when he gets there.
Some of the “Day 1” things that Kash has already publicly outlined that he plans to do could be, when viewed through a logical lens, the reason they have tried to delay his confirmation for so long.
But if RFK Jr and Tulsi made it through - who many saw as the most difficult confirmations - I’m cautiously optimistic that he will make it into his position as well, even if later than many hoped for.
Macro takeaways/lessons for the week:
-The lawfare cases on deck hit a snag earlier than many expected, but many see these as “bait” that Trump wanted/expected to get a proper SCOTUS ruling on the power of the Unitary Executive. The thing about TDS is that it makes it relatively easy to predict the angles of attack from those infected with it.
-The media continues to beclown itself amidst already cratering public support. When you surround yourself with clowns, you get a circus.
-Panama, in the end, removed China’s control of the Panama Canal. In the end, we will win.
Implications:
You can’t win them all, and you should always expect some unexpected variables to go awry when formulating any sophisticated or multivariate plan. Surprisingly, things have been going quite swimmingly for Trump v2.0, despite the media and DC-types trying to convince you otherwise.
I’m cautiously optimistic, but it looks like following the “speed is security” doctrine was an excellent choice.
The Weekly Read (Monday):
The Boy Crisis: Why Our Boys Are Struggling, and What We Can Do About It by Dr. Warren Farrell
amazon.com/Boy-Crisis-Boy…
As the social sentiment begins to move back towards promoting the nuclear family, there are a few headwinds that still need to be dealt with. Firstly, young couples are not likely to have kids (or even get married) if Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs isn’t met, starting with a good economy, affordable starter homes, and security.
Beyond that, many of my generation and those above (and below) my age cohort complain about young men today and their lack of, well, most of what we attributed to the maturation of young men and how they should act.
To understand what caused that, one must go back in history (but not that far as, with many things, the changes during the Obama administration did some serious societal damage).
This book walks you through that history, and how many of the pro-women and girls programs, grants, STEM scholarships, equality rules, and others may have been designed to enhance the opportunities for young women, but many of them did so at the expense of young boys and men.
I have both a daughter and a son, and the results that I have seen societally look like they have been damaging for young people of both sexes. Fewer opportunities for young men, a reduction of the spaces/programs/abilities for “boys to be boys,” constant scolding by school mom-like “Karens” and the MeToo movement (and everything that it brought with it) have totally reordered and damaged this crucial time for boys to mature into young men.
For my daughter, it also means that the quality of the pool of men that she may one day date and marry has this “failure to launch” crisis due to these types of programs and the lack of an ability for boys to be boys when it's time to be boys.
Pepper in the lockdown ridiculousness and all of the damage that caused to the social upbringing of kids, and we have allowed busybody intellectuals to do great harm to boys directly, and girls indirectly.
To truly fix a problem, we need to identify, name, understand, and determine where the origin point of the problem was. This book does that and I consider it a must read for any parents or parents-to-be of both boys and girls.
