It came out last week that NATO/EU had overstated its artillery shell production capacity by 3x re: UKR (forecast: 1.6mm, actual 6-600k).

Turns out the US is in the same boat. 155mm ground to a halt under Obama (3k per month), then was increased under Trump but is still anemic, dependent on foreign inputs, and there's a +$400mm US mfr facility that is sitting totally unused.

Can we start hiring based on merit and the knowledge/skills for building things again yet, guys, or nah?
