Those who feel that grand conspiracies can't exist because large groups of people can't keep secrets (especially big ones) should look into Elusis and its "mystery school."

At a time before Christ walked the earth, the world's leaders (religious and heads of state), intellectuals, poets, philosophers, and eventually anyone with "wasta" (pull) would travel to this specific place in Greece to undergo a multi-day ceremony.

Many of the greatest minds of the ancients went during its time. The only things that we know about it are from bits and veiled pieces that they wrote about the life-changing nature of the ceremony.

We know that at a time when most people believed in pantheism, these societal leaders were taught that there is but one God, and living an upright life allows for an immortality of the soul to join Him after the body dies.

But the specific ceremony was punishable by death under Greek law to describe to anyone who had not gone through it themselves.

There are scholars trying to determine if some type of psychoactive compound was used. Many think there was a theatrical element.

But no actual description of the ceremony has been found to this day.

The crazier thing?

Elusis probably borrowed its ceremony from one in Persia. Which got it from the Indo-Aryans. Who got it from the ancient Orient.

Others took from Elusis and started their own in other places.

Yet with all of the historians out there, not a single actual record of the ceremony or people writing about what exactly took place has been found that I can locate.

Despite some of the most prolific writers in history having attended.
