On September 9th, the Wisconsin Election Commission (WEC) will vote whether to allow ES&S access to the voting machines to perform “upgrades.” WEC Administrator Meagan Wolfe acknowledges the likelihood of data deletion, stating: “there is no statute that either defines ‘IP logs’ or specifically requires their retention...”
In a statement today, Reps. Janel Brandtjen and Timothy Ranthum remind the Commission of WI statute 7.23(1)(g), which requires municipal clerks to preserve “voting machine data for 22 months after any election.”
